I'm not very far yet, (I think,) just 4 locations.

You've probably already found the large box in the middle of the room- the light switch is slightly upward and to the left.

Status : Online | Ooof, I clicked the square heavy thing all over!  Just regular left clicking, no need to use crowbar or something ???) I am stuck. I will have to stop the game if I can't get past this. I tried random clicking, circular trails, diagonal trails, I was worried my mouse or clicking finger (say that 10x fast) would give out.

LOL... looks like you were supposed to be gone another day, so you'd miss this display.

| Deleted User | Extremely strange!! ??? I was one of the 2 lead testers and had no trouble whatsoever here. I've just reinstalled and checked against my saved games (I have 1 immediately before & another immediately after "Let there be Light" and again absolutely no problems.
Some suggestions :-
(1) Check if you have what I think is the final version ... TUMv11AGS2.zip (2) Check that it's the same length as mine i.e. 20,612,315 Bytes. (3) If any anomaly, email Eduardo Campos (a terrific guy) at ratracer@sapo.pt
What 'happens' to me ..........................
Susan enters room ...... completely black apart from outline of entry door at mid left edge of monitor screen ...... walks from left to right & you SEE her passing behind a bulky object almost exactly mid screen ...... cursor there shows a "?" ...... click on it ...... "Hey!! What's this? It's big and heavy>" ...... Immediately to the left of the top left hand corner of this object (a cubic shaped crate) is another "?" ...... click on it ...... What's this? It feels like a switch board ...... Click on it ......... LIGHT !

I was very carefully following the outline of the "bulky object" by watching the ? mark go on and off, and looking for the switch within that area. I found the right hand wall, and had given that the clickfest treatment as well. I had swept through the whole area in a coarse way, but missed the little island. <sigh> But, I'm back on track now, thanks again!

| Deleted User | I'm stuck very early on - I'm in the newspaper office, with the pic of the statue, and can't get it to trigger her to look into the anthropology book, even using the pic. She says that it might be useful to look into. I've gone back to talk to everyone, Phil, Colin, the artist, and the millionaire, and returned to the office - still no luck. I do have the 1.1 version, just d'loaded it this morning.

Status : Online | It sounds like you have the right books. After you see the symbols, you check with the books in the far left bookcase, the anthropology books. Are you dragging the picture onto the books, or right clicking or left clicking on the books? Each does a slightly different thing.

| Deleted User | I did drag the pic over to the books, and I can't remember trying to right click on them, so I'll try that, but I do remember that the pic kept jumping back to the inventory on me, so maybe I did try that. I think I may be missing some step, but I don't know what it is.

Maybe you could try starting from the beginning again. I did that at one point, as it appeared that something had left my inventory unobserved.

Status : Online | Hi there,
Thanks all for playing TUM - I didn't have any idea that people were still playing it...
SPOILERS ahead...
.
.
.
.
.
Sorry for that awful pixel hunting at the warehouse... The totally black screen was a bit of an accident. My monitor makes pictures too dark so I couldn't make a good level of penumbra...
Outside the warehouse, you're supposed to use the key on the lock not the door - yeah I know it's another bit of pixel hunting but not so serious...
Also, the notes (on the notebook) about the characters of the statuette should appear when you use the picture on the anthropoly books and the notes about the characters on the painting (but only when you can have a zoom view) should go on automatically when you LOOK at them - when in zoom view... I hope I recall this rightly, since I didn't go thru the wt... and I haven't replayed in a long time...
BTW, is anyone playing it wih a wireless keyboard? does it work ok? F9 - the save menu - doesn't work for me!!! I guess next time I'll use Esc instead of F9, what do you think?

Status : Online | Hi Ratracer!
I want to thank you for making "The Uncertainty Machine", I did enjoy it.
The dark room was only a problem for me as I was too careful about following the edge of the blob in the center to find the lightswitch. I suppose a lot of other people find it with no problem.
One other place where a little more light, or some artifacts would have helped was in the screen after you entered the light ball. It seemed to me that there was a wall in the middle of the screen, much like the wall on the right side of the dark room. I didn't realize that the screen was actually panning to the left after I got to the midline of the screen. A few glowing blobs would fix this problem.
What can I do with the legs?? I was disappointed the nail polish wouldn't work, but I was certain that the hot wax would work! No such luck.
It must have been a huge effort to build such a game, I really admire people who can focus to do a job like this. I hope you can do another one some day.

the other totally black room was somewhat a subterfuge since I had no idea how to represent a totally alien world...
And what legs are you refering to? Susan's? TUM is supposed to be a family game
And yes I'm thinking of another game, so far I'm creating backgrounds for it and hopefully it will be a significant stepup in that dept... I hope I finish it eventually and also will try not to make it too similar to TUM, although so far the structure of the plot is not that different...

Was there anything else special to do with the legs? They were "active" in that they had a hot tag.
Also, maybe you can answer about the ending. At the ending I tried many of the coordinates (about a dozen) but all seemed to have the same effect. Is one of them different from the others? ???
Thanks!

About the coordinates:
this is a spoiler ...
...
...
...
...
....
you could get them to give you the Mathus' dimension (based on the numbers taken at the museum) - it was a specific coordinate, that one or the "blurry lab "dimension" - those coordinates would be those given by the range specified in the "device" given by Mathus (when you changed the X by any number) so if it falls within that range it would always give you the "blurry lab dimension"...
