See, now the thing about Doom 3 is that it looks like most of id's games post-doom (that is to say, excellent game engine wrapped in a fairly average game).

From everything I've seen it looks a little...uninteractive (if that's even a real word) and heavily scripted.

There isn't even much interaction with the scenery (breaking glass, etc) from what I saw in the preview video. There isn't even a "use" key and Carmack apparently fought hard to remove the "crouch" function!

Like the Quake games, it usually turns out the second or third generation games made with the engine (such as those made by Raven or Ritual) are usually worth waiting for. If that makes sense.

Right now the word "daikatana" comes to mind whenever I think about Doom3. Let's hope that won't happen.

But apart from the graphics, I have seen nothing which seperates it from the rest. And that was before I saw the screenies of Half Life 2 and other games which will be released Q4 this year.

Doom 3 hasn't been delayed nearly as much as some other games I could mention  *COUGH DNF *COUGH

You're right, it hasn't. But the reference wasn't to the delays, but to bragging about your game and when it is released, that game turning out to be a complete heap of sh*te. That won't happen with D3, it has it's graphics, but apart from that it seems games like HL2, DX2 and Far Cry are miles ahead with gameplay AND they all have good graphics.

Daikantana is a dirty word, I know most don't think of it as a dirty word but it is, I waited and waited for that game and the programming was so screwed up it was amazing, talk about bugs.  Never got beyond the first five minutes.

Uninteractive is now a word, it has been degreed (speaking of words, how is that spelled?).

I know most of the gaming world, including myself are waiting for Half Life 2.

So, are you guys going to help me with Thief 3?  I failed stealth a long time ago

What's is in your list? I am not talking about games that you are going to buy but about games that are going to be released and you think that could worth someone's time...

Well, I'm probably going to buy this, but other RPGers would likely also be interested in Temple of Elemental Evil, which is due out next month. It looks pretty sweet.

It sounds just like the original Doom games - isn't that what people want? I wouldn't have thought anyone would look to Doom for a cerebral challenge.

I'm starting to wonder if Runaway even exists at all. Could it all just be some vast conspiracy, dreamed up to torment us by an evil developer with a grudge against British people? And the rest of Europe and America are in on it as well?

I was thinking something similar actually

I created this thread and I haven't posted...I think it is time for the Greatest of All to post :

If you think of something better please inform me

worms is my all time favorite game (fun game that is...)
Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

If shooting strange weapons at cute worms with funny accents in a totally 3D destructable environment is wrong, I don't want to be right!
