Whether or not that will influence their game design, I don't know, but I'll reserve judgment for when the games are actually released.

But I have a little more faith in Sam & Max 2. They said it will be 100% adventure. I dunno... I'm a bit pesimistic about Lucasarts. I really think they should stick to the Star Wars franchise.

However, one of the greatest advantages of being a new adventurer - besides, of course, that I've got TONS of games to play - is that it's just about impossible for me to be pessimistic about any new contribution to the genre. Aaaah, happy times... I cherish these days

They always seem to employ some of the best voices around in their games and it's one of the reasons I love their adventure games so much. I can't wait for FULL THROTTLE 2.

Status : Online | I was the lead artist on Full Throttle 2 for about a year. There was a shake up in the direction of the game near the end of my tenure at Lucas Arts. Director Sean Clark then took up the project. He has a good reputation for taking existing licenses or projects and turning them around and making them succeed (The Dig, Sam n Max, Escape From Monkey Island). Unfortunately he and I had a bit of a falling out, so I decided it was best to move on. So now basically, the Escape from Monkey Island crew is doing Full Throttle 2, with the edition of level designers from other Lucas action games. I don't know anything about the game design, but if I were to speculate, I would expect to see lots of simple puzzles intermixed with lots of action. A pure puzzle game I very much doubt this will be. I bet it will truly be and action/ adventure game. And I think that is the way it should be. A great tough guy character like Ben should not be using cat hair on a piece of tape forming a mustache so he can rent a moped. He should reach over the counter, grab the rental guy by his nose ring and punch his lights out, then take the gas from all the mopeds to fuel up his hog, then ride over all the mopeds on his way out to kick more ass! And I think that is exactly what you will get from Full Throttle2. I look forward to it. I have a few nitpicks with some of the screen shots. According to Tim Schaffer Ben isn’t supposed to smile. I know he does once in FT1 when he gets the booster, even then that was more of a smirk. Ben is based on Sanjuro Tsubaki, the ronin from the movie Sanjuro. And that guy has a foul temper and never smiles. In a lot of the FT2 screen shots Ben is always smiling. It makes him seem less stern and grim, more cocky and silly. Clint Eastwood never smiled during fights in all those spaghetti westerns. I don’t think Ben ought to either. Also, and again this IS nit picking, why did his boots go from black to brown? They look better black. His pants are tan and they blend in with the boots. High contrast on the legs helps people read them as boots, and that is especially important in an action game. You need to see where his feet are in order to tell where he is standing in perspective, even in 3d real time games. As we all know, so called 3D games are not in real 3D because they all ends up on a 2D screen. The villain looks a bit too pompous and grandiloquent. I think a tough guy needs to take on either a not so tough genius villain, like Ripburger, or huge hulking warrior bent on dominace, not a clown. That guy with the pompadour just looks too silly to be a challenge for Ben. But, and I hope, he may not be the real villain. Maybe he is just the comedy relief.

I hope their plotting skills have improved.
