I mean, really, is me saying "f*ck" or "assh*le" any worse than me saying the actual word?  It's just silly.  I mean, the replacement phrases the board uses are occaisonally humorous, but it's still annoying as all hell.

It's even more silly to filter out non-dirty words that refer to other sites.  I sincerely hope that JA and Gameboomers will stop doing that some day.

You're right Betje, they don't link it.

**EDIT**
I don't know how this works (or maybe not?).

Very amusing.

It means black water.  Liver being black.  I'm afraid it doesn't say very much for the state of the River Mersey in the olden days, does it?

Of course it doesn't get the shipping it used to and in the 20 years since I've been gone, maybe they've cleaned it up a bit and possibly even got fish again.?  Someone in UK can tell us that.  All I know is they cleaned the Liver buildings after I left and I hardly recognise the place now.

Pronunciation Note.  Liver is pronounced as is live performance not as in the internal organ of an animal.

I think the Mersey is in a slightly better state these days. Liverpool itself is slowly recovering, but there's still a lot of unemployment and crime. It's a shame, because in many ways it's a lovely city - did you know that it was recently named European City of Culture?

Back on topic: I think we should get rid of the censorship. Apart from anything else it's completely pointless, since you can easily get round it. And some of the replacement words and phrases are just ludicrous.

Huh? I wasn't talking about links, but about text -- words in a post.

I understood that I misunderstood, but the link really wasn't working at first, which was weird imo.

Can't you write some 'bad' words?

These aren't the words that they censor. It's too polite.

They are all words that can be used instead of 'bad'.  I fulfilled the challenge.  Now pay up.

sarah, you want censored words?  spoon, spoon, spoon

more spoons, spoons, you have to guess what it really was?
 Betcha can't....

MichalN
I can certainly write better.  But you're too young to read such stuff yet.

Not that this is even remotely interesting to the rest of the people posting on this thread,  but since you brought up our board Betje - "someday"  happened some time ago.

That's very good news. If that is the result of the new ownership, I'm delighted. However, I do know for a fact that the mods were filtering only 14-17 days ago. It happened right before my eyes. I could name you the thread and all.

You're right
The thing is that, like Sarah wrote, the source is visible once you use the quote button. But quotes are excluded from the source you get to see once you quote someone.

My favourite replacement is still the one for b*tch.  :
I discovered it myself when I put a new movie quote in the general trivia forum and it came out like this: 'Get away from her, you bitch!' Not surprisingly, no one could guess the quote.
