K's Choice: 'Me Happy', 'Winter', 'Mr. Freeze', 'Iron Flower', 'Old Woman', 'Believe', 'Butterflies Instead', 'Almost Happy' (o.k. Basically all their songs are absolutely brilliant Check them out now! ) K's Choice really are an amazingly talented group. They've made funny songs, dramatic ones, melancholic numbers, and all without pushing it too far. Their lyrics seem simplistic at first, but really manage to say big things with little words.
Arid: 'At The Close of Every Day', 'Believer', 'Me and My Melody', 'Life', 'Substitute For Love' (superior cover of the Madonna song) The singer of Arid has a very beautiful voice, just amazing what he can do with it!
Hooverphonic: 'Mad About You', 'Vinegar and Salt', 'Out of Sight' This band brings a succesful mixture of modern pop music with classical instruments and themes.
Soulwax: 'When Logics Die', 'Much Against Everyone's Advice', 'My Cruel Joke'
@Inie: As far as Dutch singing artists go, I'm pretty sure that we have the worst. It's awful what kind of crap they dare to release on cd's. When the Flemish top ten is filled with mainly songs for children, you know you cannot sink any lower. :

My real country is New Zealand and I suppose one of my favourites is Po Kare Kare Ana - which is pronounced just as it looks and I guess all Kiwis would relate to Now Is The Hour and of course the Haka (especially when N.Z. beats the Aussies, South Africans and British in rugby - hip hip hooray , we won the tri-nations last night, now bring on the Bledisloe cup)
So far as Australia is concerned - don't really have a favourite.
Like Caroline, by real favourites would be songs most people here have probably never heard of and wouldn't like if they did, like just about all Opera Arias, Musical Comedy, Operetta, Lieder, Gilbert & Sullivan etc etc. (don't know why I put capitals!)

Nah, you're right! The worst Dutch singing is in part Belgian (I completely forgot about K3 because those Dutch "Idols" are everywhere. They're so awful!).

germany has some fantastic bands... diary of dreams come to mind immediately! great 80s thrash metal scene as well (kreator, sodom, desctruction etc)... i love rammstein too... the only lyric i know though is "du hast mich gefragt und ich habe nichts gesagt" (smth like that :-/)
as for greece, 90% of the music consists of neo-pop-folk immense-crap that can make you puke in a second... if you exclude that, sometimes there are some real artists and groups that release good stuff... make believe is a group definately worth checking out

You know that that was the best selling song of that year? : yep, the rest of Dutch language songs here is that bad. And you may also recall those bestselling songs of Samson and other similar tv shows.

If you had heard songs by our "Idols", you wouldn't doubt for a second who had the worst singers. If you ever come by a record by Peter or Natalia, ignore it! It's for your own health.
And yes, you are right about K3. Luckily we're rid of them for a few months as they will perform their new show in The Netherlands. Have fun!

OMG You know them! That's so great. And yeah, the song you mentioned is fantastic too (just like 'Pink Fluffy Dinosaurs'). I just mentioned their most famous songs hoping someone would recognize them. And you did.
About Rammstein, I don't really like them, although their song really worked on the soundtrack of (and in the film too of course) Lost Highway. Don't know what the title of that track is though.

I thought their last album was still pretty good (esp. Sometimes and Nirvana Blue), although not as strong as The Magnificent Tree album. I must say though that I've never listened their first album which cannot be found in shops here anymore. :-/ I'm looking forward to their next tour. They are doing a series of concerts with a full symphonic orchestra!

I actually have this album (well, a rerelease then apparently, since the name has been changed to Hooverphonic on the cover of the album). I thought A New Stereophonic Sound was their first album, which is also available from the site you listed. Thanks for the link. I'll order it as soon as I have money (which might be kind of a problem. :)
@Elfstone: I used to really like Anouk, but her most recent work is just awful. Next to Nobody's Wife, Sacrifice and R U Kidding Me are probably her best songs. And I'm glad to hear K's Choice is quiet popular in Germany. Do you like them?

Yeah they did. I can't remember though whether it was a K's choice song or one from Anouk they sang. Their musical styles are quiet different, so it was nice to see that the duet worked out all right.
