Status : Offline | thanks for the input everybody... hmmm... i like the looks of ... wasteland erevos and... bad milk ...
some games i already own that i think would fit in this category... peter gabriel's eve (excellent art, music and creativity) drowned god (haven't played it yet) bad mojo (cool, oddly different) creature crunch (great ! sometimes you just gotta have a cartoon !) harvest (another great indie) sophie's world (philosophical edutainment) liath (haven't played it yet) isabelle (whoa... is this weird) litil divil (can't get it to run)
any more suggestions ?

Nonono... not weird at all! Different yes, weird no. Not many 3rd person games without dialogues and without inventory around. The player has to discover the story. Beautiful, wonderful game, makes perfect sense. (Not that I have finished it... it isn't an easy game.)

IT JUST PROVES THAT THE OLD GAMES ARE 100% BETTER
THAN THESE GAMES TODAY. I AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I
CAN GET THEM TO RUN ON XP WITH THE CAPATABILITY
ADJUSTMENTS.
I AM CURRENTLY GETTING READY TO START PLAYING
TORIN'S PASSAGE-LOOKS GREAT! CAN'T WAIT! IT'S
ANOTHER OLDIE.
THE FUNNY THING-NOT REALLY- IS THAT THE SOUND IS
PERFECT ON THESE GAMES UNLIKE THE CHOPPY,
GARBLED, UNINTELLIGBILE SOUND ON MANY DREAM-
CATCHER GAMES. GO FIGURE!

You know, it was supposed to be the first part of a whole new adventure game series (although it stands perfectly on its own). I never understood why the game never reached a big enough audience to guarantee a sequel.
Oh, and for rare games: have you tried Down in the Dumps? It's got this wacky style of humor that not everyone might like, but I had great fun with it (at least at those moments the game was stable. It did crash regularly, but that might have been a problem on my pc :).

Status : Online | Perhaps not too obscure, but rare...the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective series. I know Volume 1 isn't rare anymore, but it was one of my first computer games back in 1992, and I finally found Volumes 2 and 3 about a year ago. I find that I can re-play those a lot. But then again, I love Sherlock.

We have a lot of adventure games to choose from now but I think a lot of them are created with the consol game machines in mind and the ported over to IBM Now days. Some of the are good but it's very hard to tell without buying it and that's a little too late. LOL Jim

BarcardiJim - Funny you should mention The Prisoner. Just saw the whole series yesterday on video in the middle of a shopping centre here - they had heaps of old movies on "special". Would love to have the series but there are quite a few videos and thought it worked out too expensive for something that would probably only be watched once.  id you watch the series on T.V. years ago? We thought Partick McGoohan was perfect in the role and loved the rather eerie atmosphere. Can't say it all made a lot of sense in the end although I don't remember it that well after all this time and I think people thought there should have been a follow-on series.

Gene Machine-Somewhat obscure-but a fun British adventure game. Crusader-fun edutainment game.
Riddle of Master Lu--I heard it's a difficult game but I wouldn't know since I can't get it to run on Win 98 because of some mouse problem.
Longest Journey--just kidding.
