I thought that was very clever and I remember it well as a teenager. Every time I pushed the button and saw the series of events that led to the babel fish escaping my grasp I learned something. And I felt fully satisfied when I put the satchel in front of the robot panel, put the mail on top, hung my gown on the hook, etc. etc and saw the babel fish land in my ear with a [squish]
The inventory item of "no tea" was pretty cool too... Ah... I think I'll replay HHG this weekend and take a respite.

And yes, the puzzles are impossible - unitl you start thinking like Douglas Adams and then the game makes sense and the real world seems impossible - or something like that, now I'm all confused.

However, am I the only one who found the babel fish puzzle not that hard? It's fairly intuitive except maybe for that last step. One thing is for sure - it's one of the most clever puzzles ever.

Status : Online | I nearly broke down by the end of that one. Of course, that was after a good half-hour stuck in the Dark. Still, all in all it was one of the most satisfying puzzles I've encountered.
Of course, ultimately I did break down, much later, when a piece of fluff mysteriously vanished from my inventory at a critical time many, many hours past my last save. Never did finish the game after that.
