Deleted UserI have read some discussion of Dreamcathergames.com.

In North America there would be no one left to distribute these games without their business model and corporate presence.

And any game worth playing in Europe is worth marketing to a broader base in America, Dreamcathers’ fan base, the American audience.

We like adventure games as much as the next guy or girl, so  why bash DreamCatcher? The more games sold here, the greater the development money that the gaming companies have to spend in Europe to give us good games.

Wouldn’t it make sense that as they sell more games to a grateful fan base that they would  be encouraged then to market even more of them? They are just a distributor for god sakes. Dreamcathergames doesn’t make the games. But they do a good job at marketing, don’t they?

I personally have bought several games from their online store (Dracula 2 being a real find). So don’t knock ‘em until you tried ‘em.

Happy Gaming.

Maybe the objections some have to Dreamcatchers is that there are no dragons? Just a little guess on my part. Just a thought. Not necessarily even provoking. But just in case you can spread your wings.

a) Wrong forum.

b) I refuse to worship a company which releases what are by and large mediocre products.  Kudos to them on releasing Syberia, though.  It's probably the best adventure since TLJ.

Deleted UserWrong forum? What does that mean?

And go look at their website and see how many games they offer. Dreamcatchergames.com has a lot to offer.

This probably belongs in the adventure games forum or the hot spot forum.  Just Adventure is a site about adventure games, so this isn't off topic.

Anyway, what does how many games they publish matter?  Quality over quantity is the golden rule in my book.

Deleted UserWell I have found quality amidst the quantity at Dreamcathcers. One must be discerning after all.

Have your played Dracula II? It is really wonderfully intense, and the end game is impossible.

You have to give Dreamcatcher/Adventure Company credit for doing their best to support the adventure genre - even if some of their titles were mediocre, it's better than letting adventure games disappear altogether. But actually, the main problem I have with Dreamcatcher is the terrible names they give to the games they publish, like changing 'Schizm' to 'Mysterious Journey'.

Deleted UserI thought that when you saw a name change like Schizm to mysterious journey, it was because of copyright laws, but I could be wrong.  Although sometimes it is outright mind-boggling.  For example the Atlantis games.  Instead of Atlantis II in America it is called Beyond Atlantis, and Atlantis III is Beyond Atlantis II.  This is just plain stupid and silly.

Read the "
oes Dreamcatcher just suck?" thread on the Hot Spot forum... it's pretty much the same thing as this and already 13 pages long.

Deleted UserThanks for the tip, szcax, but the title of my thread is that I love Dreamcatchers. Please be aware I will go where I please and don't need your direction. But thank you for your help nevertheless. Perhaps you can get me a seeing eye dog and lead me around the site. I am more than capable of finding my own way.

Was that a big enough rant. Arf Arf.

My point is just that I saw the “Does Dreamcather Suck” post, which has an implied tone that would favor all that would say “yes” it does, suck that is, Dreamcathers, which it doesn’t by the way I am just taking an alternative stance is all. You will find that will happen a lot lately.

And since it is already 13 pages long – this Does Dreamcatchter Suck thread,, then much the more for a new thought, from one who says he loves Dreamcatchters and will shout it out loud. Lol

So the new poster logged and as was advised which page he was to read and which post or which thread he was supposed to view or look at or even respond to or be patted on the back or cajoled or grinned at or google eyed at.

He looked into his justadventure.com manual and saw that it was totally blank. There were no rules other than those upon joining. Looking up, he decided to walk around with free will and with great calm.

His posts were already ‘moved’ to their correct location, so realizing he was in a zone that likes to be organized, he organized his thoughts more clearly and said again:

“ Look! There is some big winged thing swooping down and pecking at me, telling me where my post should be?”

No, that is just a minor interruption.

“Oh, like an initiation” he saw it for what it was.

“No, your thread is in the wrong spot and needs to be moved”.

He wondered about that, but being ever moved, he was willing to be moved once again, without emotions this time.

So now sitting  and reading his manual he realized he was really very tired of this, and even more was getting a little bored with it all and so he turned the page. That is when he saw a little remanant of his recent past flickering up into his eyes. Yes he saw her. He can’t speak her name, but she is there.

Well, for those that see at least.

Sorry if I sounded condescending or pushy, Daryl! I just wanted to make sure you knew about the thread, that's all.

As for me, I think DC has given us some pretty lousy games. Although I commend them for trying, I just wish they told their developers to shape up or ship out. After all, DC may be the lead pioneer in the revitalization of the genre, and I sure as heck don't want them to set any precedents if they continue to distribute games of the same quality as Atlantis/Crystal Key/Arthur's Knights/Traitor's Gate/Egypt.

However, I'm delighted to hear that you're a big fan of DC, and I'm happy that someone, even if it's not me, enjoys playing their games.

Also, they've got some great looking games set to be released in the future, and I wouldn't be surprised if I change my opinion of them and DC becomes a "great AG company that had a rocky start" to me by the end of 2004

Deleted UserNo, I understand and hear you and even agree with some of your points.

Well you do make a convincing argument. I threw out Egypt it was so bad. And Traitors Gate was maddening, though I did manage to finish it, after emailing the walkthrough guy linked to this site 2 years ago explaining that his patch didn’t work. LOL. Well that is adventure gaming for you, You love it or you hate it. I have a love/hate for Traitor’s Gate.

Thanks for explaining your post.

I do agree there are some bombs in their on line store. I for one thought Messenger was horrible, but we all have our tastes and that’s what makes gaming fun. Oh, I threw away Lotus Spring too. And gave away Pompei and Time Machine,  So I am not totally biased lol.

Thanks for sharing.

I am with you Daryl.
espite some bombs, Dreamcatcher IS publishing adventure games and was doing so when few others were.  There were at least a couple of years that I wouldn't have had much or anything to play without Dreamcatcher.  And without Dreamcatcher, I doubt there would have been a resurregence in AGs at this point.  Often times a new company has to find out what works and what doesn't.  I think Dreamcatcher is really getting there and looking for more and more quality.
