to everyone with "significant others":

i was just wondering, do you find it difficult to find the time to submerge yourself into a game without your spouse feeling neglected? >

No problems here. Me and my husband share the interest for adventure games and we almost always solve them together. Two minds works better than one

I have to admit that gaming provided me with a legitimate way to neglect my spouse... However, (for me) I think that escaping into adventures was not the cause of discontent...  it was just one more symptom of things gone wrong.   I don't believe that I ever would have been on the computer until the wee hours every night if things had been blissful on the homefront.
Now, after a "domestic reorganization", I am free to play without guilt but find that I have less inclination to do so!

I'm one of the lucky ones - hubby is an Everquest fanatic and our computers sit side by side - he plays his games and I play mine - in fact as I speak, we are sharing chips and salsa dip - he with a beer, me with a CC sour - life can't get much better than that

very cool, syd...

my current guy (who is not into this stuff AT ALL) and i always seem to give the other the space to indulge in self-absorbent activities...

but like cindy...life in the past hasn't always been that agreeable... >

since i am not a keen basketball fan, that is the season i can play COMPLETELY guilt free

still gaming...

aww man, syd! You're making me jealous! Now I want a significant other that plays adventure games. Maybe I'll just drop some of my manly charm into the female adventure gamers thread

My wife and I have a pretty good system. I usually play while she's reading and it works pretty good. The only time she'll complain at all is if I've really gotten into a game and play for 4-5 hours a day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Right now she's taking a cake decorating class on Tuesdays, so I have all evening to myself!!

I've explained to her that adventure games for me are like reading for her and that usually does the trick. She's even sat in and helped me play some games like Myst and Laura Bow.
Never do anything half-assed, always use your WHOLE ass!!

Been going thru some of the old topics, and I thought maybe we could do some updating on this one.
As for my husband, he doesn't mind me playing my games. He just HATES it when I buy them. The only times he feels negilected is when I go over to my best friends house and play Scrabble with her.
How's everyone else been doing with this?

Can't really say. I haven't been over to your best friend's house or played Scrabble with her lately!
