Hi all,

My wife and I enjoy adventures and play them together (no comments please, we've already used them up ourselves!), and we're looking for something new. We have so far enjoyed the likes of Myst, Riven, Exile, Schizm, Zork: Nemesis and Zork: GI (Though these last two were not as good to our thinking).

Can anyone please suggest anything else we might try along these lines? We've looked through some of the Reviews but can't find anything that looks like it's similar...

Cheers,

Parthe

Deleted UserIf you liked the Myst series you might also enjoy Rama, Obsidian or Lighthouse, or even The Crystal Key. There is also a sequel coming out to Schizm in the next little while.
Or you could try Monkey Island for something completely different.

Sounds like you like the same type of games I do.
I recommend Rhem, Dark Fall, Amber, Morpheus, Timelapse, Riddle of the Sphinx, and Beyond Atlantis I and II. Just for starters
. This site has a review section for more information. Also try PAGODA for links to other reviews.
BTW, I enjoy having a gaming 'buddy' as well. Playing through a game with a partner is more fun than working away at it alone.

Definitely Timelapse.
ark Fall and Morpheus are also good bets.

-If you want "mechanical puzzles"
really good ones) and a long/large game I would recomend RHEM. Though I would not rec it if you are after a great story.

-If you want some nice, cool "spine wrestling" twisted with great puzzles. It gets Spooky thanks to your own imagination. I dearly recomend The Best Game from 2002, Dark Fall. (Try and get it before the New Dark Fall II comes out, around Helloween)

FOR THE MOMENT I AM PLAYING ON MY Win 7&&&&Recently Played&&
ark Fall Lost Souls,Outcry,SH vs A Lupin,Tales of Monkey Island,Still Life 2,Sinking Island,Pandora Directive (RP),The Lost Crown

I would add Amerzone.  The puzzles are pretty easy which makes it not last particularly long, but the game is beautiful and worth playing.  It has an interesting story, even if I think too much of it is given away almost at the very beginning.

Our thanks to everyone who responded. It sounds like Rhem and Timelapse are good ones to go for next, but we will take note of the others and pick them up off E-Bay if they turn up!

I really liked Amerzone but there is one thing that kinda sticks in my mind.  It was a little depressing because everyone you got to talk to died after you finished. LOL
Other than that it was a great game and a really cool idea for the story.

My girlfriend and I also play together (again, insert own joke here) she providing the logic skill, and me remembering how to get from AtoB on maps... although it's a break from what you've played before I'd recomend Grim Fandango and Discworld Noir. We have a lot of fun playing these together, and we both enjoyed the Myst style games too.. GF and DN might be good games to break you out into the wider adventure world.. and might lead you on to the monkey island games, which for us are soe of the bext. however you need a fair bit of adventuring experiance first and the puzzle solving in the Isles of the Monkey are never sraight forward!

My wife and I also play adventure games togeather. We enjoyed Syberia, Post Mortem amd The Longest Journey.  a lot.  Another great zork game if you havn't played it is Zork, The Grand Inquisitor. It's much different than the other ones but really good.

I don't really like an 'Empty World' Adventure games like Myst, Rhem, Riven, etc, but Dark Fall, Chemicus, Bioscopia and Physicus might be your best bet. I like character interaction more.

Jalex, I know you're kinda new to the forum but PLEASE remember that a lot of the games discussed in this forum are on many people's "to play" list.  I was really looking forward to playing Amerzone, but now that you've told me that everyone I'd talk to would die, I have no desire to play it anytime in the near future!   >

Deleted UserAlpine, don't let that keep you away from Amerzone!  The premise is just to keep you moving on to discover things on your own, and not everyone dies after talking to you, really.  It is a really beautiful game, and fun, though, for me I did get lost underwater for a bit.  But it is well worth trying this game.

Update - I just replayed it yesterday, and had a wonderful time with this game.  It was beautiful, and mystical, kinda fantasy-like, but nicely done.
