I tried running the game but it says quick time 2.1 is requried and i have the newest quicktime. Anyone know a way around this or how to get the game to work without old school quicktime being installed.

Yes some older games needs to have QuickTime 2.1.2.59

I have that version installed and a newer one QT5.
And that works perfect at least for me.

Good Luck

Yes, it's okay to have both QT 2.1 and the newest QT version both installed.  They install separately and stay out of each others way.  QT 2.1 is 16bit app and the newer QT's are 32 bit.  This is the best setup to play the older games that need to use the 16bit QT.
