I don't know how good this sounds but i am not sure if i am going to like it. Bill Murray has signed to voice the role of Garfield the Cat in the upcoming Garfield film for 20th Century Fox. The movie, based on the comic strip, features a sardonic cat who must tolerate the indignity of being saddled with a nebbish owner (Breckin Meyer) and a nitwit dog as housemates. Drawn by Jim Davis, "Garfield" marks its 25th anniversary on June 19, having debuted in 1978 in 41 U.S. newspapers. Today it is one of the most widely syndicated strips in the world, appearing in 2,570 newspapers in 111 countries. Helmer Peter Hewitt (Thunderpants) directs the live-action/CGI adaptation, which was penned by Toy Story writers Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow. Garfield producer John Davis says that the title character will look as though he is a real, live animal. "The goal there is to make you believe that we found a cat that did all those things, even though it was all created in a computer," he tells Sci Fi Wire, "A tremendous amount of research and development has gone into making that cat look absolutely real." Garfield will still have the features of traditionally animated and comic-strip characters as well. "He has features like his ears and his eyes, and he's kind of a fat cat. He's bigger than any cat you've seen. You've got those big paws. You'll look at him and go, 'He's Garfield. That's Garfield.'" Garfield, directed by Peter Hewitt, voiced by Bill Murray, and starring Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Stephen Tobolowsky, is scheduled for a June release. Sounds interesting, right? Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. emmaPrivate Detective![]() Posts : 525 Joined: 12 OCT 2002 Status : Online | Okay, completely too late, but still wanting to air what I'm looking forward too; LOTR, obviously! Matrix last installment, call me stubborn... The League of Extraordinary Gentlement, can't wait! Pirates, I can't resist an opportunity to slobber over Johnny Depp! Sooo... I gotta say... I'm totally psyched over this new tidbit, Rama by Arthur C Clarke filmed by Fincher played by Freeman!!! I'm so completely blown away by the prospect, I'm nearly peeing myself here! All of them, big favorites of mine, I'll be expecting wonders! LOL! Gotta pase myself here... Looking forward to SW ep. 3 too, but I gotta admit I've given in to the fact that they are in no way resembling the magic I felt when watching the OT... And about all the Alien-movies. I confess, I like all of them almost equally much, only in totally different ways. The first two were fantastic, so when the third one arrived to the theatres my hopes weren't all that high, but I gotta say that the darkness of it completely seduced me. The visuality of the fourth was also something mindblowing. I have no idea how a fifth would be, since it seems that each movie has had their complete own "soul" in a way... Hard to see, the future is! And wimli, don't worry about it! :-* //edit// oh and as Monkey already noticed, I've got my dvd-collection in my sig! //edit// My DVDs | AdventureGamers | I haven't lost my mind, I've got a backup on a disc somewhere. |

I am a GREAT fan of Garfield. I wish to have a very fat cat like him but I dont know how to. I m glad you told us Godfather. It looks like its going to be a great movie! I've just saw the trailer of Sinbad. With Cathrine Zeta Jones voice in it. Why doesn't it amazes me that much? I dont know. It wasnt that catchy( the trailer) I laughed at this one catchy phrase that's in my local tv commercial on Finding Nemo. "id you know that the White Sharks speaks in an Australian accent?" |

There just too expensive, especially Columbia disks: they sometimes charge about 45 Euros for their double disk editions Luckily dvds prices drop rapidly these days! |

Does anyone know whether The Fountain is still going, in limbo, are cancelled all together? Last I heard is that its other main star, Cate Blanchett was still committed to the project. Talking about Troy mad me think about that other big historical big budget film. Wasn't Oliver Stone going to direct an Alexander the Great film? |

No Ray Harryhausen though, so maybe it's not a good idea... Last i heard of the Alexander project there were two in the running at the same time one with Colin Farrell (will this guy ever take a break? I'm bored of his face already) and the other with DiCaprio (ummm.... isn't he a bit young?) Similarly there are two Hannibal projects on the go (think elephants and mountains, not brains and chianti) one with Vin Diesel and the other one.... with someone else.... :-/ What is it with Hollywood execs stealing each others ideas at the same time... usually both films end up being toss anyway (Volcano/Dante's Peak as one galring example) : Playing: &&Reading: &&Listening: &&Watching: |

Both of these failed to become a box office succes. I wouldn't be surprised that Volcano/Dante's Peak also fits into this ridiculous rivalry between Disney and Dreamworks, nor would I if those two Alexander projects were to be financed by these studios. Hollywood, they can be such children at times. : |

| Deleted User | Troy sure looks interesting. I'm currently enjoying The Odyssey, and it really is a beautifully written story! Haven't got hold of a copy of the Illiad though. Still, I wonder if I have to read it. After all, I've heard Eddie Izzard tell all the best bits already. It went something like this: "Ten years of siege, and then the Greeks finally played their master-stroke, final end-game play, where they built a huge f*ck-off horse, hundred meters high, made of wood, and then they sailed off in their ships and they said 'Bye! Bye, we're going now! You've won! Bye! We've left you a huge f*ck-off horse! As per usual... Bye! As you normally do in these situations... Hope you enjoy it!'" "What's the precedent for leaving a huge f*ck off horse? Normally after ten years of failure, you'd leave some dog-poo behind. 'This! This is what we think of you! You bastards!'" "So the Greeks sailed off in their ships. And they sailed over the horizon. You know, where it dips right down, and they sailed to where it dips down behind the horizon, where you can't see... If you've ever been to the horizon. And all the Greeks just hid behind the horizon. And they could crawl along just below the level of the horizon. So that they could get a good look at the Trojans they could stick fish on their helmets, and they could jump up and..." "So they built a huge f*ck off horse, and the Trojans came out and said 'Oh! A big f*ck off horse! Just what we've always wanted! Go on, drag it in! Come on, Tony, Simon...' I don't know what Trojan names were. Anyway, they should have checked, cause it was a hollow horse. They should have done that tapping thing: tap-tap-tap-tap-tap, tap-tap-tap-tap-tap, TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP-TAP... 'Hey! Hang on!' tap-tap-TAP-TAP-TAP... 'This one's Hollow! Get it open!' And inside there'd bee a lot of Greeks in there. 'Hello! Oh, have they gone? Oh, d*mn! We forgot to set an alarm, cause they haven't been invented.'" That man always cracks me up! |
