Since the last few post in 'Just saw the Matrix' thread are more about others films, I thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread.
Credit also has to go to emma as she started a similar thread over at www.adventuregamers.com. Sorry for stealing your idea emma!

So what new films, that will be coming out in the next few months, are you looking forward to?

To get some ideas, check out some trailers at http://www.apple.com/trailers/. (Again, sorry emma for stealing your idea!
)

For me personally: I can't wait for Pirates of the Caribbean, Finding Nemo, Phone Booth (yes, it's still waiting for a Belgian theatrical release!), Underworld and The Italian Job and a few others.

On the other hand, I couldn't care less for The Hulk, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Terminator 3 and Tomb Raider 2.

What do you all think?

Well, since I don't care anymore for Matrix Revolutions, even less for Hulk and T3, I'm really waiting for...

JASON VS. FREDDY!! Oh, yeah!

Also, Pirates Of The Caribbean and League looks nice.

Wimli, you hit the center! I just love threads like this one! For those who don't know it, i happen to be the guy who watches movies all day
.
I can't wait to watch Identity. I have read quite many reviews and i think that the movie will be just great. I love movies with plot that doesn't reveal itself from the beginning. Phone Booth is to be released next week but i can't say that i wait it. The trailer tells everything you want to know about the story which means that there is no suspense. Also, I think that the director must do a great job which is quite difficult. The entire movie is played in a phone booth and I don’t know how the director will make the movie so interesting. Terminator 3: Rise of the machines is one movie I can’t wait to watch! I just loved the first and the second and I according to reviews I read the third will be awesome. Furthermore, the say that the last 20 minutes will be perfect and exactly as they should be. I can’t wait. A classic film I can’t wait to watch is Lord of the Rings: The return of the King!!!

All that is gold does not glitter
Not all who wander are lost
The old that is strong does not wither
Deep roots are not reached by the frost

From the ashes a fire shall be woken
A light from the shadows shall spring
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
The crownless again shall be king.

Who reads this poem and doesn’t feel thrilled? Peter Jackson says that the finale will be great and I can’t wait. Another movie I want to watch is Matrix: Revolutions. It is free to be downloaded in Kazaa but it is a rough cut and for a movie like Matrix, I say NO. I liked Reloaded and I think that the third and final part of the trilogy will be awesome. Oceans’s twelve is a movie I want to watch but it is going to be released in a couple of yearsL. I really liked the first one! Alexander the Great is going to be a great film too! I think that the cast is just great! Colin Farell says that he has to work out really hard in order to make more than 20lbs of muscles! That’s a lot of work. Bruce Almighty! I don’t know. I liked Jim Carrey in some movies but I am still waiting to watch this one.
Now about the movies I am not interested. The league looks like a crappy movie but the cast is quite good. I really can’t say. I am waiting… About Hulk I can’t say anything. I like Hulk as a super hero but I can’t say that I am going to like the movie. Spiderman 2!! Yay to spiderman. The producer still doesn’t know the title of the movie! I don’t like that. They wanted to name it the amazing spiderman but there seems to be a problem with the Rights and they can’t decide.

That’s about itJ. Wimli, I tell you again this is an awesome thread. Emma, I wanted to post to your thread at AG but I didn’t..sorry.

Hey Godfather, no problem, I'm a movie-addict myself!

I'm a still studying which means I have a very tiny budget, but most of my money is spent on movie theatre tickets, dvds (check my sig
) and adventure games of course!

Yes, Identity looks intruiging too! I forgot about that one! Another one I forgot is The Return of the King. It's probably so obvious that I'm gonna see that one, that I forgot to include it. :
I have my doubts about Terminator 3, without the involvement of Cameron and the trailer looking like it will be a science fiction movie like you've a dozen before.
I hope I'm wrong about this one!

I think Phone Booth will be very good. The last time director Shumacher worked with Colin Farrell was for the movie Tigerland. And I absolutely loved that film!

So, what does the rest think? Or maybe this will be our private thread, Godfather?

Edit: Oh, I forgot another not-to-be-missed movie: Big Fish! There's not a trailer available yet, but knowing this is a Tim Burton movie, is enough to wet my appetite!

I don't know any movie called Big Fish. Any information?

So, what does the rest think? Or maybe this will be our private thread, Godfather?
Who cares actually?

Here's a link: http://www.joblo.com/upcomingmovies/2003/bigfish.htm

But there's a lot to find when using google. Apparently there isn't an official site yet, but rumor has it will be released this winter by Columbia/Tristar. I also read some small previews in the movie magazine Total Film (U.K.). This is the cast of the movie: Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lange, Helena Bonham Carter, Allison Lohman, Steve Buscemi, Danny DeVito
Wow, quite an ensemble!!! And of course Tim Burton directing!!! This is to much for me! *faints*

Deleted UserKatsuhiro Otomo's Steamboy, Les Triplettes de Bellevue http://www.lestriplettesdebelleville.com/, Finding Nemo, Interstella 5555 and that new french CG movie that I can't remeber the name of after some of the animated delights that'll knock seven shades of cack out of films like Reloaded. Can't wait!

The new Hulk pics at Ainticoolnews.com look pretty awesome - don't ask me for a link as I can't remember and their server can be dodgy at this time of the afternoon. So I have hopes for that, despite some godawful overacting on the ads. I have to see it as the girfl sculpted a 6ft torso of it for a 15ft sculpture...

Revolutions I'll only watch for the biomechanic design they're boasting about and The Return Of The King is the only sequel I'm even remotely excited about. LXG looks "ok", The Italian Job is a pointless remake of an already classic film, T3 looks like a lesser T2 and Pirates Of The Carribean could be the suprise MIB hit of the summer.

Roll on, roll on...

Since there are any thought provoking movies coming out, it is the summer season, these are the movies I want to see:

Terminator 3
Feddie vs Jason
Pirates of the Carribean
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The Last Samuri (not til winter release)

and

Annimatrix (spelling) understand it is really good.

Deleted UserOh man, there are so many. T3 might be cool (although it might suck big-time too, but it will be interesting to see nonetheless). Return of the King will KICK MAJOR ASS of course, but that's still many months away. Dumb and Dumberer looks like a good movie too look forward to, as long as they've made it in the spirit of the first one. The Pianist won't come to Sweden until the end of the summer, but it definately looks interesting. I'm also dying for David Fincher to start filming Rama, but that may take years... What more? Indiana Jones 4 is coming up in two years or so. Let's hope they make it as good as the three old ones. The Italian job seems to me like an unnessecary movie remake. It can't possibly come anywhere near the original. But I always enjoy a good car chase movie, so it might be good anyway. Speaking about car chases, there's a Fast and Furious 2 coming up. It probably sucks, but there might be some good action in it. Bond 21 won't be out until 2005 at the earliest, but if I know myself well enough I'll keep checking for rumours about it all the time until then.
There's also the next Harry Potter movie next year, starring Gary Oldman as Sirius Black! That alone will be worth the ticket. What more? Umm, can't remember anything really... Oh yeah! There's a Red Dwarf movie coming up in a year or so. They're currently in pre-production.

Well, I'll remember ten or so other movies just when I've clicked on the post button, but this will have to do for now...

I can't say that i am waiting for Harry Potter. I didn't like the second movie. It wasn't just the CG scenes but the entire atmosphere. Petter, i think that you are over reacting with the Indiana Jones film. This guy is really old, so old he could possibly die during the shooting. I don't want to sound pecimistic but he is too old for that kind of stuff. 2 Fast 2 Furious will be as crappy as the original one. I can't see any reason to make such movies. The only reason to watch is if you are a car-maniac, i am not.
Guys i think you forgot about XXX 2! I am just kidding, of course, but this movie is honestly crap. Too much action and absolutely no plot or good acting. There are rumors that XXX 3 is going to be made too. Doh, what they are thinking about. I hope that the next Bond film won't be an ultra-action film like Die Another Day TENDS to be.
I can type for hours about that kind of stuff but let's listen to other guys and gals too. Who doesn't want a dialogue, right?

I'm actually looking forward for the third Harry Potter film as they have taken a risk by hiring a hollywood outsider to direct it! HP 3 will be directed by the same guy who made Y Tu Mama Tambien (I forgot his name though). Expect a much darker look for this instalment in the series!

Petter: The Pianist won't come to Sweden until the end of the summer, but it definately looks interesting.

How come release dates are so different? The Pianist has already left theatres in Belgium a while ago and is scheduled for release on dvd next month!  :-/

Isn't Fincher working on a third Mission Impossible film? That was the last I heard about him. I don't know whether Fincher would be the ideal person to direct Rama. I don't know why exactly, because I'm one of the only one who actually liked Alien 3.  :-/

Deleted UserThe new HP director is Alfonso Cuarón, and you're right Wimli, it's the guy you're thinking about. It sure is a gamble, but I think it will work out well. I wasn't too keen on HP2 either, but Cuarón will hopefully create a darker, more interesting movie than Columbus would have. It would be nice if the movies "grew up" like the books do. Also, a bigger part for Alan Rickman and the aforementioned Gary Oldman introduced into the HP movie universe sure is a promising start...

What more? I'm prepared to give Indy 4 a chance. So what if Harrison Ford is an old fart? I think he'll manage. Spielberg and Lucas aren't taking any chances with this movie.

I agree that XXX was total crap. The problem was that the movie took itself too seriously. Actually, when I think about it there were many other problems with it too.
This is just the latest attempt of many to create a new Bond-type franchaise, but it will fail miserably like all its predecessors. Diesel cannot support such a series, and the concept is dead in the water anyway. The Bond movies works for so many reasons that this series and others doesn't fulfill.

Speaking about Bond (there he goes again... :
) it's not at all impossible that the next movie will be a much better one than DAD. Looking back at Bond history, many of the movies that have gone overboard in the effects department have been succeeded by a much more toned down movie. The results have often been really good. Just look at You Only Live Twice/On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Moonraker/For Your Eyes Only. However, it's not easy to know if the current moviemakers have the same feeling for this as the late Mr. Broccoli had.

Yeah, it's kind of weird. As a contrast, Phone Booth has already been shown here. I haven't watched it. The idea seemed cool, but then I heard it wasn't taken as far as it could, and it got pretty lousy criticism, so I decided to pass on it.

Fincher has been planning for a Rama movie for ages, but he's doing several other projects simultaneously, some of which will be completed earlier. Apparently, Morgan Freeman will be in the Rama movie. They have a website for it here:

http://www.rendezvouswithrama.com/

One of the coolest aspects of it is that Arthur C. Clarke himself is involved in the production. Also, they're supposed to use some technology that enables the actors to experience the CGI bacgrounds during filming! I have no idea how this will work, but it sounds cool. Hopefully it will help them to act more convincing...

And BTW: You're not the only one that thinks Alien 3 is better than most people say.
Someone (I think it was monkeybone) told me that there would be a new cut of the movie included in the upcoming 9 DVD Alien box!

Wha?  A rama movie being made.  YAY!  I've only read the first book and played the game though and read a little of the 2nd book then stopped for some reason.

I'm looking forward to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie and the Terminator 3 movie which I think will suck.

Wow, it does look interesting!!!
I'll definitely keep my eye out for this film!

A new DVD Alien box? God, there goes my money again! *sigh* But it's true, the Alien series deserved a better treatment, there were hardly any extras on the disks for Alien 3 and Resurrection!!! >
Clearly all the attention extras-wise went to the first two Alien films.

Ooh and I see I forgot ANOTHER two films on my must-see-list! Kill Bill looks very promising!
A return to full form for Tarantino. And then of course The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, although it has been mysteriously quiet around that filmproject for too long. :-/

That reminds me, weren't there any plans to turn Pratchett's and Gaiman's novel 'Good Omens' into a film? Last I heard about that one is that it would be directed by Terry Gilliam!
Definitely the best choice for directing duties on that film!

Let me put it that way. Vin Diesel isn't an actor! Some magazines say that he has a brain too but i don't think so. I didn't like him is The Fast and the Furious, i didn't like him in XXX and of course i won't like him in any other movie. Some say that Man Apart, starring Vin Diesel, is a decent film but i doubt it cause this guy can't even speak without looking as if he is eating peanuts! Total crap, as you said, i wonder why they 'create' such 'actors'?

You want to hear good news turn bad?

Fox is planning a Alien vs Predator film.
Wow, could be cool film, right?

Forget it! Paul Anderson will direct it! >
And that's Paul Anderson as in the Mortal Kombat films and Resident Evil, not Paul Thomas Anderson (Magnolia, Boogie Nights) >

Why do Terry Gilliams's movies always get into problems? The man is a genius!

Oh, and I must say that I never saw XXX or Jeepers Creepers, and apparently that was no loss!

I did like Vin Diesel in Pitch Black. That was a really cool film!
