Hah! I was ready to go to bed and it suddenly hit me:
You mark each coin of a stack with the same colour and you this for all stacks (with a different colour for each stack).
Then you take one coin from the first stack, two from the second stack, three from the third stack, four from the fourth stack, and so on till ten coins from the tenth stack. Then you put all those coins on the scales and look at the result. Now the number behind the comma tells you how many fake coins are on the scales, as they weigh 0.1 more than the rest and so which stack contains only fake coins. So if the scales say 7,7 grams that means there are seven fake coins on the scales. Since you took seven coins from the seventh stack (and you recognize them because of the colour you used for the seventh stack) that's the one with ten false coins!!!
I'm so proud of myself (even if it's wrong, it's still a brilliant guess in my opinion when you are already with one leg in your bed. )

Now if I changed #5 to say "dog jumps higher than a house's roof", how can you still win? I can think of two ways
I forgot my sig.

Yep...there's something special about going to bed while working on a puzzle...I've had answers pop into my head almost as soon as I turned out the lights and my head hit the pillow.

Well, I have my moments of clarity! I'll leave the other riddles for someone else, cause now I REALLY need to go to bed if I still want to look human in the morning!
This is a great thread, MichalN, be sure I'll come around here more and baffle you with stupid answers and a correct one now and then.

I just need to get that dog up on the roof somehow and have him start jumping.
Now, growing up I did have a cat that would climb up a vine growing at the side of our porch on to the porch roof where he could look into my parents bedroom and howl for food. Too bad I didn't know this riddle then, I could have made some money off of him.
And I just thought of the other answer: a house roof can't jump either, so the dog can win that way.

That's not what I had in mind... if I had a dog standing on the ground next to a house, I could make the dog jump higher than the roof of that house is, and it has nothing to do with the fact that houses can't jump

OK, if the house were a doghouse, that would work.

So... need any hints on the remaining riddles?

Yeah, I guess so...the only answer I can think of for the first one is "Use the brakes!" but that's a little obvious.
The only thing I can think of regarding the apricots is to weigh a whole apricot, weigh the pot, and figure out from that how many apricots were used....although I can't figure out how she forgot how many apricots she used so soon. Or maybe there's something else about jam making that I'm not getting.....

Just because an answer is obvious doesn't mean it's wrong I accept that, and it'd be my answer as well. But there's a less obvious answer - where can you see cars, fire trucks, elephants, horses and more all going in the same in direction and at the same speed? And more importantly, in circles?

Think of an apricot... and what it consists of.

Sounds like a pretty strange place....but I'm still drawing a blank. If you want to leave it for someone else, that's fine, but I fold on this one.

Hmmm....you didn't say anything about her removing the pits. I suppose she could count those.

For reference, there's still this unsolved math problem:
1. TWO x TWO = THREE Each letter stands for one and only one digit, and no digit is represented by more than one letter. Can you work out what digits the letters in the above multiplication stand for so that the identity above is actually correct?
It's not as hard as it looks - there are far fewer possibilities than it seems. I mean, c'mon, it should be immediately obvious which digit 'T' stands for and what is the possible range of answers. Remember, I'm bad at math and I solved this one

Yeah, but it's MATH! Math and I don't get along... I'm really an English major at heart, if not in actual fact. And you must know various computer langauges, so you really can't say you're bad at math....
Well, enough kvetching, if it's still here, I might as well have a look...you're right, the range isn't that high, it's just a question of running through some limited choices...
138 X 138 = 19044?

Oh yes I can Seriously, programming requires logic skills, not math (I don't consider the two to be the same). The computer can do the math And something like calculus is generally useless in practical programming.
Well, enough kvetching,... Interesting word. Is that from the German "quatsch"?

I'm not sure. I think it's from Yiddish, so there could be a connection...
...OK, dictionary.com says it's from:
[Yiddish kvetshn, to squeeze, complain, from Middle High German quetzen, quetschen, to squeeze.]

Ok, I'm off to season 4...
