First adventure game: King's Quest VII somewhere around 1996 which is when I started playing "seriously" at about the same time we got a decent PC at home.

Status : Online | Country - Canada Age - 28 I've been playing and loving adventures since as long as I've had a computer. I think I got my commodore back in 1986(ish). So I would have been about 12 when I started playing adventures. First Adventure (that I can remember) - Maniac Mansion Before that I remember playing some text adventures, Spiderman, The Hulk, and the Hobbit. I was also a HUGE fan of the KQ games.
16 years later I still like adventure games just as much. Although I'm a lot more impatient now. I don't spend hours wandering around the game figuring things out, all to quickly I skip over the to the walkthrough to get out of a jam. Bad I know...

Playing seriously - No idea.

I forgot about Atari! I'd like to amend my answer in the "first adventure game bought" category to RIDDLE OF THE SPHINX ON ATARI!. I was about 8 when my family got Atari, and we had Frogger, Asteroids, and that cheap freebie cartridge that came with the unit (it had Combat and Bi-plane on it). Later we got Riddle, as well as some game with ghosts in a haunted house. It may very well have been called "Haunted House", but I can't really remember.

- Age - 49 (shi† happens)
- First personal computer bought in 1985 - Mac+ (One megabyte of RAM)
- First computer games played - "ark Castle" and "Beyond Dark Castle" for the Mac+
- First PC bought in 1999, and have been playing Adventure Games ever since
- Primary objectives for the PC: Adventure Gaming and on-line use
- First games - Sanitarium and Zork: the Nemesis
Other:- Bought one of the first Mini-Moog synthesizers (analog) back in 1971
- Was around for the digital revolution in electronic musical instruments (MIDI) in the mid-70's
- Bought or was given synthesizers (Yamaha, Roland, Kurzweil, Fairlight, New England Digital, Sequential Circuits, eMu Systems, Peavey, etc.) for artist promotional use - usually didn't have to give them back; just had to say I used them
- Have made a living being a all-purpose musician, with occupational forays into telecommunications, office management, computer programming, etc.
- Still don't own a DVD player, an X-Box, a Playstation 2 or any console machines, but don't really mind. My former German exchange student brings his boxes over, and the occasional movie or mayhem game is enough. Would rather play Adventure Games in my spare time
- Current game playing: Odyssey: The Search for Ulysses and thoroughly enjoying it - after I programmed my Gravis Xterminator Digital Gamepad to perform all the keyboard functions. Detested Odyssey before I did this
- At this point, rather settled with occasional business travel. Now I mainly want to go to Walt Disney World to relax (it's about seven hours down the road) - or perhaps Estonia? Haven't been there; would love to go
Thank you for the neat topic, franklin, and I apologize to everyone here if I have given more personal information than necessary.
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Played way way back on the C64 and even the Atari as a kid. Not sure if any of those old games would even be considered Adventures on this board...

- Adventure on Atari 2600 (totally graphical, no text except for the easter egg)
- Oregon Trail on Apple II (educational text adventure)
- Zork on Apple II (my first classic text adventure)
- Leisure Suit Larry on Atari ST (I think this game was point-n-click on the ST, which was a very Mac-like mouse-driven system... if that's true this counts as my first point-n-click adventure, and begins phase 1 of my hardcore adventure gaming)
- The Longest Journey on PC (first adventure game in phase 2)

Didn't like the 100% text based adventures but played a few. My 1st was probably The Hobbit on the Specturm. Then around 1987/8 playing Leisure Suit Larry 1 & Kings Quest 1 on an IBM PC at work (I ran it on a 'top spec' 286 IIRC)
Owned PCs ever since and have played a lot of games
