Secondly, what the MachuPicchu? LOL...why can't i think of snappy come backs such as that ?
Can you please redefine your arguments? All that seemed to happen was that other JAers and I posted what games we have according to Randy's list and then there was all this heat.... well... somehow betje and sir dave got into it, then i joined in when betje said that a certain game was "typically american"... sorry, i'm a shell-shocked american... all i asked was for her to explain what she meant...
that's my story and i'm sticking to it
Anyway, let's carry on with the topic at hand.... i'm all for that... i liked "secrets of the luxor" too

That goes for you too. You said some extremely unpleasant things in the past.
"Really? Where does he say, imply, suggest that? You're twisting his words." -which inferred that I was misrepresenting Randy's article when I wasn't quoting him at all.
You were linking your own opinion to someone else's article. And haven't you noticed that it's easier to misrepresent when not QUOTING... wait a moment, I already said that.... I really should start QUOTING myself. And what was that again about me MISQUOTING you?
"Sir Dave, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression (from your first post in this thread) that you hadn't played the game yet." -which infers that I have no right to comment on a game I haven't played through.
That depends on the comment. If I haven't played a game, its somewhat pompous and pretentious for me to tell other people that it's a bad/good game, let alone underrated, don't you agree? Unless I was QUOTING someone else who knew what they were talking about.
In short, I made general comments to which you responded with what were really unprovoked personal verbal jabs.
We obviously have a different interpretation of the word personal.
The wise Sennebec gave you some good advice above. Take it!
I haven't seen any advice from Sennebec, except a rephrasing of my own words about "typically American".

I've played close attention to the bold type and I still don't get it. Too dense I suppose. If you don't want to spell it out for me, fine. But don't come complaining afterwards that I didnt try to understand.

I have never said any 'extremely unpleasant things' to or about you before this thread. And if you re-read this entire thread completely, any comments I made were in response to what I considered to be your unnecessarily negative reponses to my posts eg. consider how you would feel if you were told you were 'twisting' someone's words as opposed to perhaps 'misunderstanding' their words or somesuch.
As for your comment: 'If I haven't played a game, its somewhat pompous and pretentious for me to tell other people that it's a bad/good game, let alone underrated, don't you agree? Unless I was QUOTING someone else who knew what they were talking about.' First of all I try to avoid words that provoke (such as pompous, pretentious and 'twisting one's words') when I disagree with a post. Secondly, what you are saying above might have some merit if I were trying to pass myself off as someone who had completed the game. However, the fact is that I'm the one who started the thread where I indicated that I had just bought the game so the person who asked me the question would have been very aware that information I gave them was information from research that one tends to do before one buys a game on Ebay rather than from playing the game (sorry, I'm just not capable of playing a full game that fast).
Finally: look, we've pretty much beat this one into the ground and it's not doing you or me any good. And it's not in our interest to end this with a grudge between us. You appear to be a smart lady and very knowledgable about adventure games so I'd rather have you as a friend since I'm here mainly to enjoy the games. So, I hereby apologize for anything I might have said in the past or present that offended you and I hereby promise to respond to you in the future as a friend if you do likewise.

The future ain't what it used to be!

Dear friends, I have reread the posts in this thread and believe that the difficulty started over misinterpretation of what each other was posting. This could come from misunderstanding of each other's English especially when idioms are used. These don't usually translate well from one language to another. It is also very hard to show tone and inflection in the written word.
As you are each trying to explain yourselves feathers continue to be ruffled instead of smoothed. I believe that each one of you are trying to cool the thread, and yet each post seems to make it worse not better. Perhaps you should just drop the whole thing and give each other a hug.  Where is Sir Funk when we need him? He always has an appropriate picture to post.)

Sir Dave, that's very generous and kind of you, considering some of the things I said to you. No, its not in our interest and it's not good for this forum. I'm sorry that I attacked you the way I did and I would very much like to be friends in future. Thank you.

It stands to reason that since these are the suggested 10 best of games that were never played, they are in a category of games that were never played for a reason. Either the company went under before many were sold, or the game was ignored because of when or how it was released, or some of this category of games weren't very good in the first place. So these games are obviously not necessarily the best games overall, but I think Randy pointed these games out as deserving a second look and IMHO he was right on with all of these games!
When I first read it I reacted too, it may be a little unclear perhaps but since Dave cleared it out in his very next post I don't see any problems. Maybe I've been playing to many american games.
(sorry for breaking the peace treaty).
