What do you think of this game? How would you rate it from 1-10 (1 being the lowest).

I'll give it a 7.5/10

I'd probably give it an 8. American McGee's Alice was the first non-point-n-click-adventure game that I had played in almost 15 years. I actually bought it accidentally, thinking it was a regular adventure game.

Lewis Carroll was one of my favorite writers when I was a kid, so even though I was surprised that Alice was actually a 3rd person shooter, I stuck it out- and ended up getting really hooked on the game.

The various levels were all very different from each other, and until the last two levels they got progressively more interesting and fun. (The last two were kinda lame- run a little, kill a little, repeat.)

The voice acting and cutscenes were pretty good- Alice was a total badass. And the ending, while very short, was quite satisfying. I also liked how different weapons were better for slaying different foes- this led to experimentation and kept the combat from getting too monotonous.

Alice was actually really cool but it doesn't seem as original now that American McGee's Oz looks like the exact same thing.
Take a story and then make it all dark and gothy, ooooooo spooky!)

Yeah, I probably have issues.

NO SOUP FOR YOU!

I'd give it a 9.  Had a lot of fun, graphics, music and game play all outstanding.  Perhaps it was the idea of it being Alice.

Will have to see with Oz.  Never a favorite story or movie for me.

8/10!

The game is way too pcychedelic (is that right?) and when i played it i really liked it!

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

A good reason why I gave Alice a 7.5 instead of 8 was simply because it was an action/shooting/fighting based game. But after a few minutes I got sucked into it and couldn't stop playing. It was actually my first PC game (2001) in a while since I was a kid. Now you can tell that I am a real newbie when it comes to adventure games :-[. It would have been a good idea to create Alice as an adventure game. I would, without a doubt, buy it!

KillTheGrimace, Lewis Carroll was my favorite childhood author too!
I loved everything from his Alice masterpiece to his fun puzzle and poetry books.

I find the spookiness appealing. I love the twisted plot, it made me feel insane. An anorexic Cheshire Cat? How original. Even Alice herself seemed a little gloomy. There were of course a few pointers I didn't like, especially going underwater in the forst of shrooms. Seemed like a major struggle, and before you know it, she lost her breath. A better interface maybe? Point n click? Possibly.

Bob, don't know much about AM Oz but now that you mentioned that it has that similar theme as Alice, I'm not too interested. It killed the originality, true.

Gayle, the music was good. It adds to the spookiness, I guess, but is a top characteristic of the game.

GF, the psychedelic theme, imo, is what made this game so intriguing

So many reasonable scores - and yet, the game failed miserably in the sales department.

I'd rate it 8 or 9 - great little action game.

What?

Deleted UserI'll give it an 8. Too bad, this is one of the games that I didn't finished. I could'nt kill the large creature(the boss). whats it called again?

I just love the twisted dark game of Alice. It's nice to play when I'm alone at night with the speakers turned up a bit and experience the chill. Although it's not that scary. But it is Spoooooky. Those sick kids running in that school.

Anyways, there's going to be another McGee's Oz huh? Better see when it's going to be relesed.

9.5/10!!! (10/10 goes only to Kick Off 2 and Parasite Eve!!!
)

of course it's a pure action game, with nearly no adv elements at all, but i LOVED it!.. and generally i love anything that has to do with alice and her world (books, games, movies etc etc)

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

I saw Kick Off 2002 in GoGamer's bargain bin the other day for four or five bucks, and thought about getting it even though I'm not exactly a soccer fan, remembering your enthusiasm for it...so you're saying everyone should have a copy or two or ten?

yes! but i'm talking about the amiga version of KO2... KO2002 was ok i guess, but nothing to do with KO2s perfection!!!
