Status : Online | OKay NOONE BUY THIS GAME...
I just borrowed it from a friend last night:
I just have to say that besides the bullet time and kungfu this is one of the worst games I've played. Can you say, "direct port to PC without changing anything?" I don't know if you ever did the hacking thing but after I played the game for about 45minutes I tried the hacking thing. To get passwords you had to do the challenge of going on the internet to a specific website with a specific number. That was so very mid 1990s not now. Secondly, there is still a command to do vibration of the controller! I mean come on. The controls suck ass. PLUS and this is the biggest, it runs shitty on my computer even on the lowest. That is ridiculous because I run Planetside on 1024x768 and that also has the lag for thousands of players and I get 100 fold better performance in it. And you said the models sucked. They aren't very bad. Not compared to the rest of this shitty game.
I truely feel sorry for people who actually bought this (including my friend)
It is very sad what dumb ass people will do for money. And the worst thing is that this game is from Shiny. And they used to make awesome games.
That's all...instead last night I played a little Bloodrayne which could be considered a GoTY compared to ETM....and Planetside....and I tried to be an engineer in PS but everyone kept killing me and my mine fields....
Once PS beta shuts down I'm going to go but Battleffiled 1942...
\\\IN ANY CASE DO NOT BUY THIS ....GAME....EVER (well maybe if iit is like 5 bucks

IT BLOWS ON THE PC...
I can't review the console versions since it was MADE for consoles...myabe it is awesome on the consoles, but I just couldn't handle it on the PC...

Stooge, it was a cross-platform development which was why they were all released at the same time... so it isn't a direct port. I've played games on the PC, even flight sims, with options for vibration - there's no reason not to include support if some people have bought and use these joypads. (I personally can't see the point of these things whatsoever)
So, are you just saying it wasn't optimised for PC? Sounds like it if you can run Planetside on full detail! Sounds like a case of developer lazy-itis to me... you know that there's ALREADY a patch? WTF? That's a little bit strange...
I haven't actually played it yet so I can't comment on gameplay, so I'll take your word on the fact it plays like a dog... BTW Battlefield 1942 has major issues with bugs and whatnot - my bro' loves it, but even on his machine-beast it occasionally stutters.

Status : Online | I've played BF1942 unpatched, and it was awesome....
Why are you offering apologies MB?
Anyway, I fully decline the fact that it was simultaneous cross-dev...it could be but there is too much artifacts for me to prove to me that it was for the consoles....
And trust me there are awesome details that prove that it was for consoles first...such as no mouse in the menus (that is always a big give away). THere is an optoin called hacking; you try and "simulate" hacking my typing DOSlike commands...ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...only people who don't know about computers would think that this is cool (i.e. console gamers)...plus the ability to move the arrow keys to specifically press a certain key on a keyboard map on the screen is still there....why would you need a piece of functionality like that when you have a real keyboard in front of you...
I am designed to tell if a game was made for console or not...and no matter what you say MB or press releases or FAQs, this game was a port to the PC that was done at the same time....
Also, the game comes on 4 CDs...this reminds me of the days when games advertised how many CDs their was thinking that it was a good thing....I see no reason why this game would be on 4 CDs....
Here is another prime fact...all the media for every system is a DVD one way or another...so why was not the PC version on DVD? Hmmmm maybe because their main force was for the consoles and the PC was secondary so that they wanted to spend little money...
And about the patch, yes that does show non-initiative but it does happen. I mean even for awesome games.

Sounds to me like you're right... the main hook for me would be the movies. Are they any cop?

Status : Online | The fact there are so many patches in a short time looks like a good sign to me, finally a developer who cares. Considering this thing had to be released now, in line with the movie, it was to be expected.
I haven't played the PC version, but I did play both the XBOX and PS2 version for about 10 minutes each and have bought a copy for my Cube. So far the game is pretty cool, but apart from the "FOCUS", it's not special.
The two things which make it interesting is FOCUS (slow down speed, do Matrix type of attacks), the abillity to take cover behind objects and the fact that it will show a lot of footage which tells more about the Matrix itself.
Basically, it's just an action shooter, including the basic "push this button" type of puzzles (big word for it).
The Kung-Fu: anyone remember Oni? This game could be called an updated version of that in a Matrix environment. It has some cool moves, but later on (the 2nd level even) it's only usefull to disarm cops who get too close, the other ones will just stay at a distance and try to shoot the sh*t out of you.
Why is it on 4 cd's? FMV. Why no DVD? I haven't got a clue. But no developer seems to bother. Why didn't they put Syberia (2 cd's) on a DVD? It's actually cheaper as well.

| Deleted User | Hey! I got it! And guess what? It could be pretty good!
IF IT WASN'T SO DAMN BUGGY...
Swapped some games for it I didn't play anymore at my local emporium. It's not incredibly bad... but really, I mean COME ON, I'm running a Athlon XP 1800+ with a Geforce 4 TI4600 and it should, with graphics like that, be running as smooth as silk. But it ISN'T.
There are some really big glitches as well... REALLY BIG GLITCHES. Scenery going transparent, the characters glasses flickering, people going through walls. The fighting is really fun, but the controls actually don't work properly and the camera has a difficult time catching up.
About the only thing going for it is the movies. It just feels rushed and unfinished. If they'd have given it some more time, it could've been really good.
It isn't all-out-awful, but it's only just above mediocre. From now on, Stooge is my best buddy. I listen to him devoutly. In fact, I've made a shrine IN HIS NAME.
Sup from Stooge's cup with me! The water's slightly muddy and there's something in it that makes you see nothing but psychadelic swirling colours!

Status : Online | About the patches: Actually it's a really bad thing that they released the patches, they shouldn't have to release any, let alone 2 in 3 days. These were released just so people would be able to play it. At another forum I post at, one of the people there said the game was great and worked while another person said the game was horrible and always crashed on him. This reminds me a lot of when Unreal 2 came out and there was mixed responces.

| Deleted User | Not really - I'm going to try my best, but I'll probably get £18 for it. I've got a fiver on credit there.
At Game stores in the UK you can return games (with good reason) within 10 days. I finished Silent Hill 2 and complained it was too scary! Money back, no trouble.
Just tried to play it again... no go. It's just so choppy and uneven. Remember how some poorer C64 and Megadrive games were with those really bitty graphics? :-/ It's really just like those.

Luckily I can get my money back in full. Apparently, I'm the first customer to call Atari with such huge complaints! Perhaps you should get your friend to do the same too, Stooge?
Here's a list of errors and problems, after patching and with the recommended drivers and settings -
1) Character glitches - glasses and clothing go through models skin. 2) Shaking characters whilst acting. 3) Facial and texture corruption. 4) Shadows bounce in the wrong place. 5) See-thru textures on BG's and chara's. 6) Major clipping issues. 7) Camera problems - flicks all over the place and gets stuck easily, 8 ) Odd glitch on camera changes. 9) Strange cuts between scenes on hot-spot approaches. 10) Difficult to change direction. 11) Character walks on it's own sometimes. 12) Character ALWAYS RUNS. ALWAYS! 13) Aiming, even with a mouse, is difficult and uncontrollable. 14) you can go through the entire shooting sequence in the car as Ghost and not fire a single shot. 15) On the car chase, the AI of the car gets stuck in a pool, you can pass it and get to the end of the level where you're greeted with a cutscene with the car IN FRONT OF YOU.
Oh... so many issues... :'(

Bob -> patches are always a good sign, not a bad one. It means they actually bother to fix their mistakes, something which still isn't very common in the game market.

Hmmm.. good thing I bought the Cube version of this game. I figured the controls would work out better on a console then they would on a PC, but it seems that's the least of your troubles monkeybone.
