Michael,

That was an absolutly interesting and educating article.  I dabble in 3D modelling and am currently a student in 2D.

You explained a lot of concepts I hadn't completely grasped.

I am fortunate to have a the latest Nvidia Ti card with 128 megs of DDR -ram on board.  I have seen demo of such capabilities as real-time fur, bump-mapping etc . . . and look forward to seeing these in future games.  Morrowind does take advantage of some of these advanced features (great reflective water and weather effects).

Some of my 3D stuff using Animation: Master from last year.

Thanks! I have to admit that I'm no expert on 3D - I've never really done any 3D work. But I've been sort of following the development from afar. And sometimes I might manage to explain even things that I do not fully understand

Yes, the demos are very, very impressive. The problem is that extremely few people actually have hardware capable of these feats. But the computational power of today's high end graphics cards is really amazing - it has to be seen to be believed..

EXCELLENT article ! !   I'm still digesting all the info - and I'm going to re-read.  Very educational.

FYI - the ATI Mojo Day presentation slides can now be obtained from
http://www.ati.com/developer/mojo.html

ATI also has a number of downloadable videos and demos, often with source code included.

Anyone can see the videos (no ATI hardware needed):

http://www.ati.com/developer/demos/r9700.html

Note - the BINK versions are larger but higher quality than the MPEG versions.
