Hi - I have the age-old problem of trying to run this DOS-only game on my Windows 98 PC.
I've tried running from the C: prompt but am told that
"There is no mouse installed" so it refuses to run.

I'm assuming that the mouse is initialised after Windows is launched on my PC, so I've tried running the game from an MS DOS Window, but I'm told that the game will only run from DOS so it reboots the PC and leaves me with the C: Prompt (sending me, of course, back to square 1.)

Any ideas on how to get the mouse up and running  pre-Windows?

Thanks...

Use the Tex3.exe and and check the "prevent from detecting Windows" box and it runs in a DOS-box under Windows.

Create a shortcut to the Tex.exe from the Moon folder and put the shortcut on your desktop, rightclick the shortcut, choose properties, click on the tab named Program, click on the "advanced" button, check the "prevent from detecting Windows" box and choose OK. Start the game from the shortcut and the game will run in a DOS-box directly in Windows 98.

I have a similar problem. I can't play Tex:UAKM from win98 so i made a dos boot disk. the boot disk seems to install the mouse and soundblaster drivers, installs the game also. But when I type moon.exe or tex3.exe the computer just reboots. No errors, just a beep and a reboot... any ideas?

Deleted UserMouse and sound problems in DOS are no wonder if you have no DOS drivers for them installed and no entries in autoexec.bat and config.sys. I know why I hated DOS in the past I needed a bootmenu with six(!) configurations with different memory and driver settings  to be able to run all games back then and spent hours to optimize autoexec.bat and config.sys.
Besides if you are using USB hardware I doubt you'll ever get the mouse to run under DOS there are simply no DOS drivers for USB-mice.

Not without knowing more about your computer and what's on that boot disk.
