It was called MANHUNTER II: SAN FRANCISCO anybody ever played it???
A pretty gruesome game for a 12 year old kid. But at least the graphics couldn't be over realistic as much as they tried to be.

Status : Online | Back in the old Atari days - with the 'Dizzy' series (the egg with boxing gloves), but not sure whether this was a UK only series of games. But, as most of you are saying, the first one just gives you an appetite for more.
It was nice to also hear about Zak McLaren, as I replayed that recently and found it just as much fun as when I first played it.
However, one game that has been around for what seems like forever was the Bitmap Brothers attempt at adventure games called 'Cadaver' - which I still play about once a year as there so many hidden secrets on each level - and I still don't think I've found all of them yet! But I believe it was the first game where you could more or less pick up or push every object, drop them on top of each other to help you climb over fences, throw them around the 'room' to knock things down ...and generally have a lot of fun.

Status : Online | I guess I've been playing adventure games since the early 80s. My first game was Zork text, which I played on my Commodore 64. The first graphic adventure was Space Quest 1, on a a friend's Mac. From there, I was a Sierra devotee, playing anything they threw out there until they turned to the dark side. Cripes, I even played Manhunter. The friend with the Mac and I ended up playing adventure games together as we grew up, often playing more than 20 hours straight, sometimes together, sometimes in shifts with one waking the other if a breakthrough was made. That was a great time.

Years later my son Ashley had bought a copy of a gaming mag and free with it was a demo of The Longest Journey.....well that was it.....stole it...played it....loved it.....
Then our local paper was running a competition to win 3 PC games...and included in the pack was a full copy of TLJ! Entered the comp and won!!!!
Been hooked ever since
:'( ps...I know this has nothing to do with this thread but please keep positive thoughts for my dear son Ashley, as he is at this moment fighting for his life in Birmingham Kids Hospital after having treatment for Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. The transplant went fine but he developed breathing probs and is now on a ventilator. The docs have no idea why he is so very very ill. I love you , Little Man...hurry home

Kizzcee007: Positive thoughts for Ashley and your family are on their way.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!!!

Status : Online | I realized that I wasn't into the "normal" games when the Atari and Intellivision games bored me (how many times can you go through the same screens in the original "Pitfall"? You could go on FOREVER....)
So instead, I started messing around on the computer... and my first adventure game was good ol' Zork 1 - and the "pick a verb that works" was akin to pixel-hunting these days... Even now, I've downloaded Zork again to re-live those text days (and who doesn't love drawing box & line maps *wistful sigh*)
My next stop was some murder-mystery-text game... I think it was "eadline"? But the time element annoyed me, so I was off 'em for a while... And then there was MYST, and the rest is history...  aaah, true love) [smiley=love.gif]
P.S. Cyber-love and support for Ashley

Personally, started adventuring on a ZX Spectrum with Melbourne Houses' Hobbit - that's back in 1983! Shame I never kept all of it... the edition I got came with the Hobbit book (still got) and tape (eek, remember those bad old days!).
It was a great text adventure that used static graphics for key scenes.
