This nice console adaptation can be found for a reasonable price in Gold Games 6 in Germany. In many aspects it's like the good old clichee console RPGs from the same league as FF, but in equal ways it's unusual.
The storyline isn't too imaginative, but the characters strive from the typical console RPG.

The battles are mostly very easy because you can boost up simple spells by using magic skils which enhance a special branch, for example you can use two different magic skills which both enhance two different elements and if both of them enhance lightning, you have double the power of lightning spells. And those are already the most powerful. Bosses are not that tough as well.
But the maps are nice and you receive new equipment all the time.

But the best about this game are the graphics (well, FF games exceed them nonetheless) and the witty dialogues. Many conversations involve ethics and moral. The constant phrasing of wisdom about life and death get on the nerves a bit, but you can find many humorous lines as well. Usually the dialogues change after a significant event. I found myself talking to everybody before doing anything.

All in all, it's typical console gaming, but it's a lot of fun and the storyline is motivating enough to keep you playing. I like it better than Gothic, which is in the Gold Games package as well.

Another good game in the package:
Motocross Madness 2
A realistic fun racing game.

Sounds good! I have Gothic on my "to play soon" pile of game... What do you think of it? I only read Cindy K.'s review and bought it cheap.

I haven't nice things about Gothic to say.
Do you really want to hear about it?

When it first came out it was a new experience, but only half way into the game. Then you slowly realize that it doesn't make much of a difference which class your character is and how you played the game. It will end in one passage. I never bothered finishing it to be honest.
If there was a clever twist or a nice ending to it, I wouldn't be able to tell you.

Yes, i loved Grandia II. It's not the best RPG out there, but it's certainly a fun one!!!

Combat is very easy, but the battlesystem is done very well, and is one of my favorites of all time. And the main character, Ryudo, is hilarious!

Fun game.
I am Alpha and Omega...The beginning and the end...The first and the last...

Randdom, maybe you shouldn't listen to me!

Gothic is a good piece of work, but it's quite boring if you ask me.

Hey, I think I'm now close to finishing Grandia 2. It's a huge game, but most console RPGs are. Easy, but fun.

Thanks for posting, I think I'll play Grandia 2 after FFX. I didn't think I'd find so many good adventure type games for my PS2!

Woah, I finally made it! The game played on me...again!
It took longer than I expected and in fact I died even once although it was generally very easy. Which made me even more certain that I reached the end. Wroong!
Nice little game with a rather unusual conclusion.
But the moral talking got on my nerves quite a lot...
