Deleted UserPlease, please, please make a decent Adventure game. Why should we have to wait so long for the next Syberia or Longest Journey? Other genres have good, worthwhile games coming out nearly every month. Why shouldn't we?

I'm getting on my knees, and beg for a intuitive, beautiful 3D adventure. No action. Just wonderful graphics and a storyline that reads like a top-notch novel. Is it that hard? Is there any talent out there willing to take this challenge?

Take a look at the new Dreamcatcher schedule. They're our Great White Hope. There are a couple of really good sounding releases there... but why do I fear dissapointment? Look again... another two games about Egypt and Atlantis... WHY! WHY, GOD, WHY!

*sobs*

Is it so hard to ask for something to really knock us off our feet?

Every time I see a brand new shooter with gorgeous graphics, I wonder when my eyes will be gazing down lovingly at my monitor at an adventure game that has the same kind of art and skill that has gone into games such as Medieval; Total War (small games company in Beckenham) and Il2 Sturmovik; Forgotten Battles (an indy developer), and with the graphics of the latest FPS (Doom 3, whatever)...

With todays technology, look what you can achieve! I'm sure it could happen! I implore the developers to push that little bit harder, and I beg to the large publishing houses to put some money into their coffers to produce something that'll create a new inroad into public spending.

Market it in bookshops! Put out an advert in the dailies! The non-games playing public would flock to it! I'm sure! Who knows if no-one tries?

But I've forgotten... this isn't about taking risks anymore, is it? It's about lining pockets. the games industry is becoming more and more like the music industry every month... it's a sad world, but someone out there should be reading this and thinking - yes! I can make that difference! I CAN CREATE A NEW ADVENTURE TO END ALL ADVENTURES and even MORE - I'LL MARKET IT LIKE AN FPS!

Push out those old, stuffy 1st person Myst knockoffs and invest the money that you've put into 7 crap games into 1 huge, exciting development! Hire people who know what they're doing! IT WILL WORK!

But then again, if no-one tries it, who's going to know? Forget the ramblings of an old AG'er like me... move on... but one day, you'll be lamenting the lack of great innovative storylines as you shoot another orc in the back of Bland RPG 3; Blandlands. And in the monitor, the reflection of the ghost of that AG you never made will be laughing at you.... forever...

Monkeybone, i have seen your thread before but i didn't post cause what you say is what exactly i think! You are d**n right. Why they don't create a good, huge and amazing adventure game right now. They have the money, the have the 'heads' to create it (i think) but they don't create it!

I think that the future of adventure games is based on amateur adventure games! I have played Out of Order recently and i remembered how a good adventure game looks! I think that someone should start a thread here about the best amateur adventure game.

Now i wait for The longest journey 2, Sam and Max 2, Syberia 2, Full Throttle 2 etc but i think that only 10% of them are going to kickass! I can't wait to play Runaway just in order to feel this 'feeling' of playing a good adventure game!!!

Some will say that we have good adventure games but i am going to say that they are really few!!!

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

I agree...I'm not a fan of 1st person games with mathy or mechanical puzzles but I do prefer pure adventure. What shall I do?! sigh. Well, I'm buying a Playstation 2 and Final Fantasy X thats what.
At least till Runaway comes my way.

I don't think putting effort into a big game will make money.
Take 2 put millions into their games and didn't make any money. Discovery Channels Byzantine again a big good game made no money. Unfortunately the money is in small dumb games like the Crystal Key. Nice Post though.
