Deleted UserThere's some intriguing stuff there. Chameleon, eh? Can't wait for that one... although less maths this time!

I'm also intrigued by Forever Worlds and Traitors Gate 2. Forever Worlds' concept sounds great - let's hope it's fully 3D and pushes the boundaries of adventure gaming.

But how is it that I'm not suprised there's games about Atlantis, Egypt and old victorian serial killers? I honestly don't hold up too much hope about these games, nor Crystal Key, but that's my opinion. I guarantee you they'll be duff 1st person 640X480 res games that do little to evolve the adventure games market... call me cynical if you want.

My main worry is that some magazine writer will latch onto the fact there's so many Atlantis and Egypt games and the Adventure genre will take another step backwards due to bad publicity.

Can we stop these kind of games now, please?

Wow! So many games... I'll never have time to play them all... :'(

Monkeybone, don't worry. I'm sure at least some of them will be good.

My money's on Chameleon.

Here's a pitch for you -

An young Egyptian slave, whilst having a break from being whipped and dragging stones about all day, discovers a time-portal from which steps a Victorian gentleman.

Although the Egyptian doesn't understand a word he's saying, the man in the strange hat and pipe manages to conmmunicate that he's in some kind of trouble, and that a serial killer seems to have come through before and may be on the rampage in Egypt.

It turns out that the serial killer is Jack The Ripper, otherwise known as Moriarty, who's got a devious plan to kill Ramases the second and take over Egypt, and using his modern skills take over the world.

Using a variety of techniques, they deduce that Moriarty is hiding out in the Sphinx, where he has made a band of gruff Egyptians follow him as a god. Using his brains rather than brawn, Sherlock Holmes (for that's who this guy is) manages to evade capture and corner Moriarty with the Egyptian.

Cursing, Moriarty jumps through another portal and Holmes and the Egyptian follow, and find themselves in a mysterious underground land - Atlantis! With Moriarty now fearing for his life, it looks like the fiend is going to destroy the world using a crystal key which he had stolen from the National Museum.

Sherlock and the Egyptian manage to negotiate there way to the city, and start looking around the natives to try and discover Moriarty's whereabouts.

Eventually they find him at the top of a Pyramid, trying to summon a god and offering a virginal sacrifice - NANCY DREW!

Using powers of deduction and reasoning, Holmes and the Egyptian manage to stop him. You have a glass of water and some paracetamol from looking at a 640X480 fuzz-o-vision game and go to bed, dissapointed as it pretty much went straight to the credits.

The End.

Monkeybone that was terrible.

You're giving them ideas.

Atlantis Evolution and Egyptian Prophesy are the first 2 games being developed by Dreamcatcher aren't they? I think all their previous games were made by other companies and Dreamcatcher acquired the publishing rights.

What does "Ships in Europe" mean? Does that mean these games will only be available in Europe?

This Jack the Ripper game sound strangely similar to the Take 2's RIPPER(same journalist business). In addition someone shoild tell them to leave mazes out of Cypher, that maze spoiled Traitor's gate for me.
I like your plot for a game MonkeyBone, better than all those dull plots in most DC games.

Ships in Europe means that is the European release date and that a North American release date has not yet been confirmed.  I have been told that all of the games in the press release will be released in North America.

Jack the Ripper is a game we first reported on last year.  In fact, we may have been the only site to report on it.  It was a great looking game except for the gunplay and has a lot of potential - don't write it off as it could be a sleeper hit.

Btw, Dreamcatcher/TAC did develop Cameron Files 2 - I think (but could be wrong here) that it was the first game that they fully developed on their own.

Great list Randy!

Most intrigued by Chameleon, Forever Worlds and possibly CYPHER (as long as there are no timed action sequences)

The Far Realm may be much better than Crystal Key monkeybone - don't dispair yet!

Still adventuring after all these years!

Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...

... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...

Gunplay? ???
Ewwwwwwwwwww.........

Mobygames lists Galilea as the developer and Dreamcatcher as the publisher, not that Mobygames is a bastion of truth or anything.  But it's also listed on the Galilea website.

Dreamcatcher has no in-house developers per se, like Sierra used to have, but they do now fund the development of games are do influence the content, plot, music, etc. in a very hands-on approach.  This was the case with Cameron Files 2.  If you  read the game credits at the end of the game you will see that numerous DC personnal were involved with the developement.

The same is now true for every game on the list that was released today.

this is very encouraging ...
i think it's a great idea for a company like dreamcatcher to draw from a wide pool of developers...
they'll be able to avoid the pitfalls of "cookie-cutter" games and keep story lines fresh and innovative...

jeepers... i'm all excited all over again...

still gaming...

It has finally dawned on me what is wrong with Monkeybone's plot idea. NO druids or Knights Templar.  What a glaring oversight! :-/

Whoops! Stupid me.

OK, in Atlantis Moriarty uses druids to help him. At the end, it turns out the Egyptian boy is the original Knight Templar, he thinks Sherlock is Jesus and he takes Nancy Drew, who is pregnant with child from the ceremony and goes and settles in Jerusalem.

The rest is history. (hahahhaaaaaaaa!)

"No need to go down there..."

That's interesting, and may explain why some games aren't being published by Dreamcatcher. The developers may want to keep creative control.

I have to wonder whether the timed sequences we saw in the recent Mystery of the Mummy and Pharaoh's Curse games were a Dreamcatcher idea or not. Or whether if a lot of people complained to Dreamcatcher about them would they be eliminated from future games.

Dreamcatcher had no creative control over Mystery of the Mummy other than I believe changing the name for North America.

And yes they do listen to your complaints and yes they do visit the JA Forum and read your postings as do the employees of Funcom, Microids, Frogwares, Revolution and I am sure many others.

I'm not sure about Crystal Key, Egypt or another Atlantis game. There are too much games with those subjects out there. I wish the developer use different subjects like Tibetian, Amazon, or something else that is not related to Egypt or Atlantis ....

Jack The Ripper and Traitors Gate are the one that sounds interesting.

If the new games are Windows XP fully compatible (so they play on a laptop) I'm ready to shell out for them. If not, then forget it. Nothing is more frustrating than to buy a game labeled WindowsXP only to have it start and let you hang because of incompability. So be careful and read the Dreamcatcher warnings on the web before buying those!
The recommended XP patch ACT3 did not work either.

Deleted UserJarmarchand, don't agree with you on Schizm 2 but you'r right on X-Files and Traitors Gate... spot on. How is a third-person title got anything to do with the original? And X-Files? That looks a little contrived to say the least... give me Silent Hill anyday...
