What do you think was the scariest game ever?

I think it was System Shock 2, AvP 1, or Undying.

Probably System Shock 2, I had to take a break once after getting too freaked out.

Deleted UserAliens Vs Predator 2 - the Marine missions. Jumped out of my skin whenever an Alien appeared, and that bit with the Predalien scared the cach outta me.

Silent Hill 2 also freaked me out, but not in a direct, scary way... just pyschologically.

Ever play Eternal Darkness?  They had this insanity meter where it would get lower and you'd start seeing and doing weird things.

The Marine missions for AvP 2 were awesome.  Especially the early ones.

I remember that Shivers made me jump once or twice.

Scariest game has to be either Project Zero(Fatal Frame) for the PS2 or any of the Silent Hill games!
2 other games which scared me, although not on the same scale were the first Blair Witch game - purely for the unsettling atmosphere when exploring the town at night; and also Clive Barker's Undying, which made me frequently made me jump when monsters suddenly jumped out at me!

"
arkfall", by Jonathan Boakes.  You can feel that unknown something creeping up behind you.  Leave the lights on!

Me too!  LOL  Of course, I was only 14 at the time when I first played it and it was my first game with a Teen rating, so no wonder I was jumpy.  There were two instances where sometimes you'd see a person's moving shadow in the supposedly empty museum.  That was a little creepy.

I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.

Yeah, the part where the eyes glow in that dark shadow.  After seeing that part, I was afraid to walk down the dark hallway down to the bathroom.  Let's just say I was in some pain until I was more scared of peeing my pants than any shadows
BTW, I was only 10 or so when I first played shivers.

What is "
"???
Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

It's some kind of horror game that was made for pc and sega saturn.  I never got to play it but the advertisements creeped me out.

I never really found T7G scary, but the last time I played it I was under 10 (15 now) so I always found Stauf's voice funny.

EDIT: Here's D

Most adventure gamers didn't enjoy D because it was a timed game -  I loved it.  It was actually more of a horror survival type game than an adventure, but still worth a play.

Keep trying to think of the scariest game.  Shivers 1 did scare me, Undying scared me but think System Shock 2 is the top of my list especially when I went in this office.

Deleted UserI'm surprised nobody mentioned the Resident Evil serie  ???.
Ŕ la InlandAZ:
1)Resident Evil 2
2)System Shock 2
3)Resident Evil 1
4)Undying
5)Darkfall
6)Resident Evil 3
7)Thief: DP
8 )Phantasmagoria 1
9)Shivers 1
10)Nocturne
11)Quake 1
12)Martian Gothic: Unification

About "
", this game is really worth the try, although really short (2h). The realisation is perfect and the shocking finale is brilliant!

I finally broke down and got Phantasmagoria off of Ebay - can't wait to play it!  I think I'm in for an experience, to say the least.

I found Half Life pretty scary... all those strange alien noises coming from up the darkened blood stained corridors.... *shudder*

Very similar to Sys Shock 2 in a way (things jumping out on you, panels unexpectedly exploding...)

I remember Realms of the Haunting being pretty creepy too.

I didn't find Phantasmagoria frightening at all. More revolting! The end was an adrenaline rush I admit.

Agree about the Alien vs Predator games too. Very very scary when an alien or predalien appears out of nowhere... not to mention the distant scuttle of face hugger... god, I hated those things!

I'm going to add the Alone in the Dark series to my list.  Of course the 3 games aren't really as scary as they are now because of the cheesy outdated 3-d graphics, but they do have a lot of cool parts (especially the first game)

And the Thief series also have a lot of scary levels.  If you've played the 1st game, you know what I'm talking about.  The ghost levels really freaked me out.

Back when I was younger the Resident Evil games used to scare me a lot. Of course, they all seem the same now... and I'm not 10 years old anymore, so they aren't so scary.

Silent Hill 2 on the other hand... freaky!
I am Alpha and Omega...The beginning and the end...The first and the last...

I generally dislike gore, zombies, undead, etc. in games, so I don't really get into horror games.  That said, the scariest game I've played would have to be Thief, which happens to have zombies, undead, etc.  Basically having to play it with the lights out and the sound up and being on edge the entire time and never knowing what you're going to come across - yikes.  The first time I ran into a zombie scared me a bit, but the first time I had a dead Hammerite run at me so fast, aaaaaaah!
Or go fishing. - MI2 &&Okay.   - Me

"
"???

I thought I was the only one that liked that game. Unfortunately but PSX broke before I finished it, and I can't play it on my new one [s]cause it doesn't have a mod-chip[/s].

I must say that I love the story. Think it's based on a book or something, and there are two "
" movies aswell.

Don't you guys think he looks ugly when he runs with the sword on his back?

Hang on a sec. Are you talking about the PSX game based on Vamipre Hunter D? Or about the PC FMV-ish game D?

In both cases the "
" stands for "
racula" I think, but the two games are completely unrelated.

For the record - I never played the PSX game, I think that Vampire Hunter D is a pretty cool movie (especially Bloodlust, the one the PSX game is based on) and that the PC game D sucks (mostly because it's incredibly short).
I forgot my sig.

Yepp! Didn't know 'bout the PC game, thanx for clearing it out.

They never say so in Vampire Hunter D but I find it likely.

Haven't seen the movies, can't find 'em.
Isn't one of them a quite new manga film? Is that Bloodlust?
