Status : Online | Most people consider Ocarina of Time the better of the two. It got a 10.0 at Gamespot, one of the few games ever to do so.

Status : Online | I have to agree. Ocarina of Time. It set a new dimension in the Zelda games.
Majora's Mask ought to be so cool with the time element, scheduled events and large amount of masks and other goodies to fiddle around with. But Ocarina wins in the long run. Can't explain why, but it has that certain touch. MM copied the gameplay and made it more complicated. Ocarina is still cooler though.
If you want to know:
Zelda - yes, groundbreaking game on a fresh console back then, a classic
Zelda 2 - strange mix of jump'n'run, RPG and some adventure elements, a cool game, an underdog in the series
Zelda 3 - set a whole new level of game world and plot combined with the addictive gameplay that only console games could reach, a milestone in console gaming
Link's Awakening - this GB title is one of the best for handheld, the story is quite cool and rather strange for Zelda games, gameplay is a lot of fun and almost equal to the console feeling
Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Time - I liked both of them, they belong together which is a cool feature, nice puzzles, reasonable length

Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

Status : Online | Ocarina of Time was a great introduction to the series for me. I enjoyed both games, but I wasn't too crazy about the time limit on the sequel. I't not as bad as it seems though. It's not like you have to finish the entire game all in one sitting. Once you gain a mask, you can save the game, and then when time runs out and you have to try again, you still have all the masks from the time you saved the game.

Status : Online | Arrow, Ocarina was an introduction on N64, but the Zelda series exists for much longer. Maybe you meant that, but I can't be sure.
