Just finished the demo for The Sydney Mystery.

Looks like a fun game.  Another independent developer's labor of love.  Was so impressed that I went ahead and ordered it.

Anyone else tried it yet?

It's a combo FMV and still photographs - all taking place around Sydney.  First person point and click - very simple and easy interface.

Here's the link if you didn't notice it on JA's front page or Val's daily update:  http://www.justadventure.com/Downloads.shtm

Still adventuring after all these years!

Patiently awaiting The Last Crown: Haunting of Hallowed Isle, and Bracken Tor...

... and Asylum if it's not tooooo scary...

As soon as you back out of the demo, the twilight software website comes up with the option to buy direct via paypal or kagi

It was... well, I think 'cheesy' is the best way to describe it. It's obviously not meant to be taken seriously. Quite fun though, not very difficult and the interface is very intuitive; the only thing I really hated was the annoying, repetitive music. I really wish there was an option to turn that off.

Ok, I hate to admit this being a veteran adv. game player but yes, I'm stuck in the demo. I can't get the third key to get in that locked drawer. The next door neighbour is useless and I take it she has the third key although the other two keys were hidden but I found them quite easily. I also have this parcel I made from an empty box, a rock, some tape and a sticker but I don't know where to use it. I've been to every location and checked every on-screen hot-spot. So to anyone who's finished this demo how about lending me a hand with hint or two.

Hey adv.dog thanks for the help

Yes I've been to the front yard of the neighbours house. All I could find was a stick which when combined with another item I came across is now a "sticky stick". I've scanned the whole screen and I've come up empty. There is no hot-spots to interact with. I guess the next thing you're going to tell me is the key is buried there, but where.

I didn't have the cursor placed high enough up on the "front garden screen" so I was missing that crucial "hot-spot" that pointed to the tree. Thanks for the help.

I have to agree about the game being cheezy. I also hated the music and it was very annoying having to go backwards to get to the map.  It was very short and to much imfo given so was very easy.

Sami - You said "it was very short".
o you mean the demo or the whole game?  I agree that the demo is on the easy side.

From the demo, I think that it would make a good intro game or one to play for relaxation without too much brain strain.  I am finding it enjoyable none the less and will withhold final thoughts until I have finished the complete game (which I am working on now).

I bought it and it came very fast in the mail. I am looking forward to it. I don't care if its short and easy...I'm sort of tired of getting stuck at mazes or tile puzzles which make a game longer but me more tired.
I can look past the production values, after all, one very motivated soul produced it. I just hope its an interesting story.

Sorry, yes I meant the whole game is very short.  I received the game in the mail yesterday and  finished it in a couple of hours.  I felt  to much imformation was given which made it to easy.  The time consuming was getting back to the map, as you had to back out of every scene. The music was very annoying and no way to shut it off.  It was a good game for a rainy afternoon, but just wasn.t my cup of tea.
