This adventure is the best game I've played in years! I haven't been this immersed in a game since the days of ZORK!
While his remark about navigating this type of game is true, he's missed one of the most fun parts of adventuring...MAPPING the game's World!! I spent over a week just laying it all out and enjoying the descriptions of each location before getting too far into the mystery itself! With the extent of detailing Peter Nepstad put into his game, I didn't want to miss a thing!
This is such an entertaining game! I highly recommend this game to any adventure fan out there!

That's exactly the reason I stopped playing it! I didn't map the Fair (there's a very useful, blowuppable and printable map in the documentation) but the place is far too big. I enjoyed the pictures and the descriptions, but after a while it got boring (boy, that must have been one very pompous World Trade Fair!) and I wanted to get on with the story. There are a few obvious first steps to take that don't lead anywhere, and of course I did the tour. After that, I was aimlessly wandering around looking for something to do.

The article does vaguely criticize the tendency to get lost in text adventures as compared to the "far more navigable graphic adventures" but overall I think this bodes well for text adventures- and adventures in general.
When I read the article I was definitely pleased. Peter and I are doing everything possible to re-ignite the Interactive Fiction genre.

As a fan of Zork may I humbly suggest you check out my work First Light? Peter did an incredible job with 1893 but it's a whole other genre. First Light is in a fantasy world with swords, spells, magical items and all kinds of neat stuff. It's also huge and mapping is quite fun as you make your way around.  o visit my site and download the demo..

Status : Online | Hi Howard!
Funny you should mention your new game...because of all the fun I had with '1893', I bought it too!! I'm just getting started...roaming around, familiarizing myself with this New World. Looks like I'll need to get a new supply of pencils and paper for this one!! Cool!!
With sword (and pencil) in hand, I'm off to do more adventuring!
