Well, I also posted and explained that problem I'm having with Overseer, in Technical Help forum, but as I haven't gotten any replies I just thought of posting it also here, because Hints & Tips seems to be read more.

So anyway, when I "look" at the objects in the game, the explanations about them only appear for less than a second and thus make it impossible to read. And as there's no speech during the gameplay (only in videos), reading the text is the only way to get any hints/explanations about the available objects.

And here's the link to my more detailed message in Technical Help forum:

I really hope that someone could help me out here.

i have NOT played the game nor do i own it so what i'll say is a wild guess... have you checked within the options of the game if there's a text speed or smth like that option? well you probably have... try also the + - keys, i remember a couple of games that used them for text speed... the letter T maybe?

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Thanx for all the advice.

I tried to use many different key combinations (such as ctrl+T, +/- etc.) but unfortunately none of them affected the text speed. The game also doesn't include any options for changing it and programs like "Turbo" and "Moslo" won't work either.

Seems like I'm screwed!

It's strange that noone else here hasn't experienced the same kind of a problem with this game...

These lead be to believe that it's not a speed problem... does other text (like dialogs) appear ok within the game? why don't you try the game on a similar (speedwise) pc and see what happens?

All the dialogues are made as videos and the captioning is synchronized with the speech.
Only those texts without a speech (and not during movie sequences) can't be read due to their lack of viewing time.

I'm afraid it's not just a speed problem too, 'cause everything else in the game is normal and can be also affected by "Turbo" and "Moslo".

So I'm gonna try the game at a friend's and see if the same problem occures.

Moslo and its ilk only works for DOS games. Overseer is a Windows game. There might be some way to slow down Windows programs but I don't know what it is.

You'd think that after so many years programmers would get it into their heads that timing based on CPU speed is stupid but nooo...
I forgot my sig.

Overseer is pretty much a lost cause on a modern computer.  I had to throw out the DVD because it doesn't work on modern DVD-Roms

And had many oddities happen.

No this is not about the game.  I had to throw away my DVD copy also, even though the regular game played in our cd rom.
How did you get that little guy under your name?
