Resistance is not futile, we're gonna win this thing, humankind is too good, we're not a bunch of under-achievers! We're gonna stand up, and we're gonna be human beings. We're going to get fired up about the real things, the things that matter! Creativity, and the dynamic human spirit that refuses to submit.

Status : Online | I don't think Syberia was too short, it was just too easy... If a game is difficult you wouldn't finish it in a few days, even if it is on the short side. With the easyness of Syberia I would have probably dropped out because of boredom if it had been any longer. I hope they make Syberia2 less easy!

the shortest game I`ve ever played was onimusha:warlords..took me 3 and a half hour
I love long games with an involving story..that`s why I love final fantasy..minimum 25 hours per game

Status : Offline | Riven, IMO have the ideal difficulty level. Around 9, with extreme explorer appeal. It's very hard but's not impossible to solve it without walkthus. Black Dahlia is different....it's so difficult than turns impossible it-self. obtuse and no integrated puzzles. Return To Zork have the maxximum level of hardness....near 10 > barely impossible. In other hand, phantasmagoria 1 deserve no more than 2 scale of hardness. GK2 is also easy...no more than 3.5 Myst 3, Zork Nemesis and Byzantine are in the same level....6.5 IMO. My dream is a game running in blu-ray disk (around 40 cdrom storage capacity). This game, could be avoid the old fashioned and tradicional puzzles, abused by developers, to enlarge the game's lenght. A 40 cd package, could be made and constructed based only in the strategy hardness to solve it. Maybe a couple of traditional puzzles....but no more than few them. So, this game never being boring or keep you stuck for o lot of time at any part of it. This game, could be entretain us for a half year at least.

[size=24]My advice to you, developer-person, is hire a proper scriptwriter, get some reasonable actors this time and tone down the maths.
Other than that, Schizm was great.

Status : Online | I walked around Morrowind for about 100 hours. That only uncovered 1/6 of the map. I was mostly running errands and exploring. Of course that's over a month of play time. In terms of entertainment value 100 hours for $50 is really good. New games come out that grab my attention, and I get excited about new stuff. And I quit, buy the new games, and play them. Maybe it's the genre, but to hold my attention for that long it's gotta make me not want to play another game. Doug

| Deleted User | I would buy a long adventure game if there aren't lots of bugs in it(like Faust).
I still haven't bought Schizm because lots of people said that the puzzles are hard and I don't want to waste my money on quitting in the middle of the game. I have to agree with monkeybone. I'm not a maths genius. At least if the game's not so hard, I could play it more than once.
Tehre should always be interactions with people in the game because when you're alone and have no one to talk to, you'd feel alone and bored. At least you know you're not the only living thing there. Plus it'll make the story line more interesting.
Come on developers, think about 3rd person games. Lots of people like it. I don't mind to wait long for a perfect long adventure game where it's perfect or 90% perfect all the way.
What else? I like games with multiple endings like Post Mortem and Shadows of Memories. Well, Shadows of Memories has more replayability and it's fun to see different scenes and put all together a whole new different story.
I've enjoyed Final Fantasy games. Long , good graphics, nice storyline, nice characters, nice music.(Well, it does depend on which series your playing )

What's funny is the articles I've read that lament the fact the games are so long. People argue that they would like to complete the game, but it's taking forever and they have all these other games they'd like to play before they died as well.
I think length in an adventure game is kinda tough to judge. I mean, one really hard puzzle or really hard to find item could make a game last forever. I personally don't really care about length so much as about the enjoyment I had as a whole.

The games may not be short, you may just be too good for them. Take it as a compliment if you will, but there's not a lot of originality out there anymore, so it's either a bit of post modernism and repeating older puzzles, or going back to the bizarre ones. Use catfish with lubricant on hole in roof kinda thing

| Deleted User | What's wrong with math puzzles? Some people like them. It seems to me a lot of people on this forum are trumpeting their own opinion as accepted fact. I like music puzzles but I don't start threads to complain about how they are too few or too easy. Ditto ditto for first-person games and lack of character interaction- if you don't like that kind of game don't buy it! It irritates me when people tell developers to stop making a certain type of game because it isn't their cup of tea. Just as you wouldn't buy an FPS if you don't like them, you shouldn't spend your money on Myst clones if you don't like Myst. Besides, do you honestly expect a developer that makes first-person, Myst-style games to be able to start making Monkey Island-style games on cue? If they don't like those type of games they'll do a lousy job. We should be glad to get good adventures at all- if I enjoy the experience it's of no consequence how long it is. If it's 2 hours long and I pay $50 for it I'll be upset- but I find these things out beforehand. If it's really short and easy I'll wait for a price drop.

Taking in their lifestyle and how much time they get to play games........and their ability to play. So.......it's kinda contradictory to say a game is 'too' short or 'too' long........ hmm?

My statement is against "short 20 dollar games".
