I rather enjoy this candid discussion of AGs and $$. I must say though, that I'm uncomfortable reducing game value to a function of hours of potential gameplay x $/hr. I buy according to expectations of enjoying a game first and foremost - and even if reliable reviews says that a game has 50+ hours of game play, I'll end up buying another game for the same price if I think it promises more of what I look for in a game - even if it is [far] shorter in scope.
I've had enough good experiences with low-priced/indie games not to take offerings in the $10-20 range seriously, and have many expensive large-scope games just sitting on the shelf unfinished or unplayed. In retrospect some games would have been a deal even at ten times the normal cost, the enjoyment of playing Riven for example far outweighs any 'wallet factor'.
So I'll stick with my orignal formulation...
I think the $/h is, at best, a general guideline. I would feel a bit cheated if I were to pay 40€ for a game that was good but only 5h long, though if it would be an outstanding 10h game, then 40€ might be a reasonable price. But for the "average" game the guideline works. But I don't, for an example, regret buying Portal 2, even though it was a bit on the short side, because it was such a well crafted game, but I would have regretted paying that much for Keepsake, though at the price point I thought Keepsake was a decent enough deal. Had it been shorter though, I would have been a bit miffed.

If I enjoy a game, I'll replay it -- sometimes immediately after finishing. If I don't enjoy it, no amount of so-called "replayability" will induce me to play it.
I have an incredibly hard time re-watching movies, re-reading books and re-playing games, unless they have something new to offer. There are exceptions, those absolutely outstanding titles, but for the average one, they need to have something more to offer than on my first play/read/watch-through. Adding diverging paths is an easy way to give something more to offer (hence why I've replayed Fallout New Vegas, but not Fallout 3)

they added an amazing Channel map that includes the coastlines, part of the, of both England and France, with dynamic and moving shipping traffic, even submarines that surface and submerge and remarkable detail overall. it is turning out to be the most detailed and best flight sim yet.

totally, it does take a pretty good rig, and at least Win7 for smooth play. I have a 4-core @ 4ghz [AMD Phenon 555BE unlocked/overclocked] and a 2x Radeon 5770 Crossfire, hardly cutting edge, but it runs smooth now that I have Win7 installed.

But, now that I am not working, it is hard for me to justify even spending 5 dollars on a game. So, I am always looking for sales. With the new games coming out, I write them down and know that in a few years I will be able to get them at a discount price. I can live with that. As for replaying games, if I really enjoy the game, I will play it 3 or 4 times in a row, as I find that I missed a lot of the dialogue or something the first time. I replay all of my most enjoyable games many many times. GK1 I have probably played 50 to 100 times, Simon the Sorcerer 1, probably at least 50 times, Broken Sword games, probably 30 to 40 times, etc.

I don't buy download-only games. Never have, never will........Mike

On the 3DO I payed up to $69.99 for an adventure game. On the 3DS I am paying $39.99 and that's about right.
I payed $49.99 for Dreamfall and would gladly pay it again.

approx 29.99 for a generic point and click (but would probably wait for a sale)
9.99 for a retro style new AG (but if not a day one purchase probably would get at 5>99)
and up to 14.99 for a reburbished classic to run on new tech (Either IPad or a current pc)

Months of fun and worth every penny. Paid a pretty penny for The Tex games too. Love those even more.
I would probably pay up to $80.00 for a game I thought I would really enjoy and maybe even a little more depending on my budget at the time.

I guess it would. I would personally not pledge more for a game than I would normally pay for it, but I guess people who really want to see a game would be willing to pay more, just to make sure that it actually gets released.

True - I am willing to pay way more to help a game that I reeeeaaaaaly want be developed to fruition than a random game purchase.
