I have encountered a possible serious flaw in the STEAM system, it appears, but not confirmed yet that no game that is hosted on steam may be purchased used and re played by anyone other than the original owner.

This is made clear on the STEAM site by STEAM for games you purchase thru the STEAM system but and however..some of the titles are available independenlty via Amazon and other retailers and then have to be activated on STEAM> i have been waiting for three days now for a reaply from STEAM on this, i purchased a used copy of The Creative Assembly's Total War EMPRIE used from a reputable bookseller online, and it arrived but is not activatable...the error message says it has already been activated and cannot be re activated.

I querried VALVE staff and they referred me to the STEAM support system..so far no answer. If this turns out to be true, i will notify Amazon so that they can notify all of their retailers. It is a sad fault if tru.e we will see.

So for now, do NOT buy any used games that need STEAM activation. None.

Is there any to tell if a game bought on Amazon (from various retailers) has to be be activated on Steam even if its a used copy?

I buy a lot of games on amazon (all hard copies, no game d/l do I buy on amazon/half.com/ebay).
