So, I've got this coupon for Big Fish Games, and I'm looking for something adventureish. But I'm afraid I'm not really up on what's what in the casual game world, so I was hoping you folks could give me some casual game suggestions that are more adventure like and less HOGgish.

And just to eliminate some casual games I've already played:

The Drawn series

The Mystery Case File series (through Return to Ravenhearst)

The Azada series

The Tiny Bang Story

The Samorost series

There was one that reminded me of Drawn -- I think it was Nightmare Realm.

Shaban was an adventure -- about a funny little guy whose sheep get stolen and he has to go looking for them.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hound of the Baskervilles, by Frogwares.

Dracula: Love Kills, also by Frogwares. Supposed to be a sort of sequel to Dracula Origin, but very camp (if you like that sort of thing).

Journey: Heart of Gaia was by Lilypad Games (casual division of Frogwares).

Mystery Legends: Phantom of the Opera

Whispered Secrets: Story of Tideville -- I just got this one and haven't played much of it, but it seems to be a 19th Century mystery story.

And there was one where you roam around a huge castle and go down a hole in the floor, but I can't remember the name.

Check the demos though to see how you like them.

I just started playing the newest Mystery Case Files game, Shadow Lake and am liking it so far.  It seems that they have made finding objects more like an inventory hunt, and it has lots of adventurish elements to it.  I also like the Haunted Halls games.  They're a bit creepy and bizarre but very entertaining, and many of the puzzles are very clever.

If you want real adventures, they have a selection of some large file games. I got Nancy Drew games plus Sherlock Holmes as well.

As for casual games, I play them for the puzzles and usually skip the story so my recommended list may not suit. However, the nice thing about BigFish is that you can demo the casuals.

One series comes to mind - Fall trilogy. I have my other faves on my computer at home so if you want more suggestions, let me know.

Sorry, no suggestions to offer you but thanks for pointing me towards BigFish - never visited the site and it's pretty good stuff. I've started downloading games in the last year - GoG/GG/JA etc., especially older titles with the kinks worked out to run on W7... BF has a large AG section which is cool.

Good to know -- it's been some time since I've really looked over the Big Fish site, I had forgotten they had that many full-fledged adventure  games. I'll probably pick up a Nancy Drew game as I've been gradually working on getting the entire series.

But I also appreciate the rest of the recommendations, and will certainly pick some of them up in time. Shaban looks like something in the spirit of the Samorost games or Machinarium, and I enjoyed those games immensely. And I definitely want to continue the Mystery Case Files series as it's gotten extremely interesting since the Ravenhearst games.

Always glad to introduce someone to BFG (heh....that reminds me of a certain other gaming acronym). With its combination of selection and issuing coupons and other discounts regularly, I have to admit it's done more to moderate my attitude towards casual gaming than just about anything just by making it so inviting to sample them. Oh, I still think Sturgeon's Law is still very much in effect in the casual market, but what I've sampled of the better regarded games of the genre have been quite entertaining.
