I would have done the same thing in your position.Yeah, things in Greece are kinda bad right now. Personally, I've been lucky so far, and everything has gone by barely scathing me, but the worst thing is that everything here is 100% uncertain. So you never know what can happen.
I sincerely hope that Europe and the IMF c.s. will at some point do more than lend money that's spent on paying back loans to European banks. I haven't played The Sea, but I want to. It was developed by a Greek guy who currently lives in Germany. Jonas Kyratzes, maybe you know him from earlier works like Infinite Ocean. Of course, since its content is political, one has to know the background of the writer, in which case is a left-wing/socialist one (afaik), therefore the spin will be affected by that.
I'd never heard of Jonas Kyratzes before I read the review at AG of The Sea. I loved it so much that I want to play his previous games as well. But right now there are too many games competing for my attention. I'm currently playing Deponia 2 (in German, English version coming in a few days) and enjoying it.
Hope you'll stick around! Do a Top Fifty, tell us what you're playing. |

My main problem was Rufus, who I really disliked. It's hard to like a game where you have a problem with the character you are controlling... I recently started Dreamweb and Amnesia, but I'll probably put them on the backburner, cause I want to play Harvey's New Eyes asap. I LOVED Edna & Harvey, one of the best adventures I've played in recent years!

As for Randy, no idea. Last year, when I went to PA, I tried to contact him, in case we could get together, but he never replied to any of my emails (to two different addresses) or FB messages. I really hope he is ok and just dropped off the map. You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. Yeah, our obnoxious, arrogant, blundering fool Rufus is the opposite of lovable. But I don't mind less-than-perfect heroes. I even found Al Emmo kind of endearing, voice and all. It's the bland, non-descript main characters that make me quit, like totally forgettable Brian in Runaway.

YES! Me too! I adore Edna and her Harvey. Lovely humor, dark story, good puzzles. Bad animations, but who cares when the game is good. I played it twice and tried to use everything on everything, just to see the unique responses. I discovered that you can even go back to the guard you locked in the storage room, and show him every new object in your inventory. Amazing! And the child in me loved using all kinds of objects on Dr. Marcel's portrait. It looked a real mess after I was done with it.
In case you don't know, Harvey's New Eyes has a new heroine: Lilly. Edna is just one of the many NPCs. Harvey is different too. I played it as soon as it came out in Germany. Enjoyed it very much, but IMO it's not as good as Edna&Harvey. Last edited by Fien : 3 NOV 2012 5:27am |

That was awesome. Of course I messed up Dr Marcel's portrait as well as his office chair and walls! I knew about the new heroine in HNE, yes. I also heard that it wasn't as good, and also that it was incredibly easy. We'll see.

I remember the times when there were days I would spend my entire day here on the forum, off topic chatting, discussing adventure games old and new, and of course your legendary tourneys, torturing us with those devious screenies from obscure games! Ah, the good old days!
Glad to have you on FB nowadays, and congrats with your 10y anniversary here!

Thanks Lady K! Life's been with, well you know ups and downs, but I'm good at the moment. How about you? I don't have as much time to read anymore as I used to do, try to squeeze in as much reading as I can, but I normally don't get much further than about 15 books a year or so. And I still love to travel, though these last few years it has always been to the same destinations as I've lost my heart to Scandinavia, Copenhagen in particular. I'm even seriously considering moving there now. How are things at the Mystery Manor?

Meaning we shouldn't visit here at all then, even on these rare occasions? Not really sure what you mean by saying that. And as for the reading, nope *points to comments above*, only been able to go through my book collection (hardly a library lol) at a snail's pace lately.
Hey Wimli! Great to see ya post! Hope you can pop in more often.
Thanks Helen! How have you been? Any thoughts on the new Sherlock Holmes game? I think I seem to remember you liked the previous ones, hope I'm not wrong here. I'll try to drop by more from now on!
(Waves back to Wimli) Nice to see you around! Definitely, stop in again soon if you can!
Hey Andromus! How are you? Have you been able to take a few more Sierra games off your to-play list? I remember you hadn't played many of these golden oldies, especially because of the many, many death->game-over situations these games had, and that I kept nudging you to play them anyway. I'll try to pop in more from now on!
Edit: lol, what is the deal with these smilies always appearing at the start of the next line? Come on, I'm a heavy smilies user, cant' keep splitting up my posts like that! Last edited by Wimli : 27 NOV 2012 10:49pm |

We had our Halloween tourney over at MM last month, then I was off line for nine days thanks to hurricane Sandy. All's well now, and I'm gearing up for the Christmas season. "Where is the fountain that throws up these flowers in a ceaseless outbreak of ecstasy?" -Rabindranath Tagore |

Oh, I'm doing pretty well. As for my progress with Sierra games, not so good. Now that you mention it, I'm overdue for another go at them, it's been a few years since the last attempt. Various attempts at the King's Quest games haven't gone well, so maybe Space Quest or Quest For Glory next time around, perhaps. Quest For Glory's RPG elements make it sound particularly appealing to me.

Oooh, the Halloween tourney at MM was even more difficult than Aya's. I participated a few times, but know I never did very well in them. Good to hear hurricane Sandy only brought you temporary problems. Reports on the news here were pretty intense. :\ Have fun with the Christmas preparations!

Good to hear you're doing well. Hehe, the King's Quest games can be pretty cruel indeed. Must say I've never completed all of them either, don't think I've finished 1-3 and 5. Space Quest is a bit the same, but at least the humor in them, including in the deaths, makes it easier to live with. The Larry games are probably the least cruel in accidental deaths, except for the second one, from the classic Sierra series. I never gave the Quest for Glory series a shot, which I regret now, exactly because of the RPG elements. I've never found them afterwards at an agreeable price unfortunately. Anyway, have fun with them!
