Status : Offline | Man, it's weird coming back here after being away for all this time, and also after all those changes.
But, a few days ago, it dawned on me, it was ONE DECADE ago that I became a member of JA. Today, Oct 16, is exactly 10 years. TEN..... Oct 16, 2002. Back when we had Forum Gods, Agustin was called Rael and the tourneys were called Match Days! (btw, I've posted tourney memories on Facebook. If you were a tourney fan, pm me so I can add you in order to see them)
Well, I've been a member on other forums, some even more than ten, but there are 2 major differences:
1. The rest I abandonded after a while
&
2. None of the others played a role in shaping the course of my life, like JA did. Even my current job has resulted after chain events that started right here - and it's not even adventure related!
Granted, it's not a full 10 years, considering I've been inactive for the past 3 or so. But that doesn't undermine the fact that it's been A DECADE
Well then, here's to 10 more!
(oh and back when i was posted using only lower case and ending sentences with... maybe i should have made this post in that manner too... )

Thanks Caroline. I'm not sure if I'm fully back yet. Although I lurk from time to time.
No, I'm not in the US anymore. However, I'll grab any chance that comes my way to go back, that's for sure.
As for the game, it's Kick Off 2. And Alkis and I are going to Milan to participate in the World Cup next month!

Well. technically the dedication lasted about 7 years. But, like I said to Caroline, I was an occasional lurker, so that may count!

Hey Helen. I didn't realize you were also from the old guard! Maybe you were among the quieter ones back then? I mainly remember Rael, Michal, Belinda, Sennebec, Adventuredog, Friday, Elfstone. All of them have disappeared, but I do have some added on FB.

I have to admit I never guessed I would be around here that long back when I signed up, as I'm not a joiner or very social at all. But I'm glad I did, as the regulars over the years here have been almost always great people to know, and dedicated, knowledgeable adventure gamers to boot.

Andromus, as opposed to you, I was thinking I'll probably never leave this forum!
As for a tourney, this can't work any more, as Google Images has made it way too easy to cheat...!

Yes, yes, we must do some tournament in celebration! Let's do one starting 10 November or something! Aya, one must factor in for that- for the googling. We were still doing tourneys... who was that guy who always arranged them? ..and LadyK sill does them at MM (don't you, LadyK?)... one must just crop the pics a bit and so forth.

I think google images is very smart and cropping won't help. Though I'm not sure. I'm curious now. I'll try some of the old tourney pics some time, see what it comes up with.

@ Support
I think tourney is short for tournament. Either way it was a fiendishly difficult set of questions none of which I could ever answer but which all the clever-clogs around here thoroughly enjoyed.

I don't know man, seems like some guy pretending to have been around for ages Good to see you're still here Inland!
@Support: Tourney is indeed short for "tournament", like Caroline said. The tourneys used to be trivia tournaments where players had to guess the game from part of a screenshot - kinda like the game going on in the adv forum right now. They lasted 3 months, with 10 screenshots posted every week, and players scored points according to certain rules, that changed from tourney to tourney. You can still find them in the trivia forum, after page 2, but all the pics are gone now. I recently discovered pics I had saved. Especially the winners are worth seeing, since the final rankings were usually posted in a unique manner (Star Wars theme, Halloween theme, Fantasy theme etc). I posted those on FB.
The last 2 tourneys were posted on the JA main page, and featured 2 rather unique prizes for the winners. The 1st tourney gave the winner the chance to have his photo included as an easter egg in Scratches. The 2nd tourney gave the winner the chance to include himself as a 3D character (non speaking) in Culpa Innata!

Yeah, I see Bastich is now doing his quizzes over at Adventuregamers. More recently there was also another guy, a member here who had is own site or blog, who was doing tournaments, according to themes. His name is sitting at the tip of my tongue... LadyK is also good at doing themes.
Aya, let's keep the answer to what 10 November celebrates a secret - it can be the first question...
..but maybe that would be too soon. Mid-November maybe?

Oct 2, I think it was. Although I can't remember who member #2 was at the moment. Deciding on icons and forum areas and the like. Definitely the good old days!

Hope you're doing okay in Greece? The situation must be hard on so many people. Which reminds me of an indie game I played only recently: The Sea Will Claim Everything. A weird but great fantasy game. After playing it for a bit, it gradually dawned on me that it was sort of based on the politicial and economical situation in Greece. Metaphores, but also Merkel c.s. You might like it.

Hmmm, maybe it will be the first question, and then we'll continue after I get an answer!
The thing with the tourneys (besides the cheating possibilities now) is that there isn't enough interest. There was even a page on FB about it, but only got 4 or 5 likes. I know that some ppl loved them (I did too), but it's really a lot more work than it looked like, since I took ALL the screenshots myself (except the Halloween tourney, if you remember it). Which was fun when there was big participation, but not as much towards the end, when interest waned.

Just noticed that your date is still the real one. So it took exactly 2 weeks for me to realize the forum had opened. I remember discovering JA and wanting to sign up during the time that the forum was closed, and I was checking back occasionally. I don't remember #2 either, but I think it was some person who didn't ever post.

Betje!! What a great surprise. Of course I remember you, you were one of my favorite forum members back then! Hope you're bitching 'em up wherever you are!
Yeah, things in Greece are kinda bad right now. Personally, I've been lucky so far, and everything has gone by barely scathing me, but the worst thing is that everything here is 100% uncertain. So you never know what can happen.
I haven't played The Sea, but I want to. It was developed by a Greek guy who currently lives in Germany. Jonas Kyratzes, maybe you know him from earlier works like Infinite Ocean. Of course, since its content is political, one has to know the background of the writer, in which case is a left-wing/socialist one (afaik), therefore the spin will be affected by that.

Oops, I guess I owe you a pair of new undies!
And yeah, FF2 is among the scariest games ever created, and that's not in a "crash! the zombie jumped through the window" fashion...
Of course, you have to play FF3 too. Here's my old review: http://betax1.justadventure.com/reviews/FatalFrame3/FF3.shtm (yeah, I found all the old reviews!)
