The Five Cores looks a lot like Riven in its design elements but very Myst-like in its execution. I just hope they don't rush it and release it below-par. I want no bugs - I like that it wants XP, and I hope the puzzles are TOTALLY like Riven, integrated and fun. I want a bit of a challenge but don't break my brain like in Obsidian.
And I hope everyone likes it. We could do with some fresh blood into this genre. Gosh, I haven't felt this hopeful about a game since I saw the screenshots for Dead DeerHunters Hotel which seemed to die without an English release.
LOL. When i saw "The Five Cores" the first time, i thought it was a technical thread discussing processors with 5 cores...

This game sounds so promising. At this point, I'll be pretty forgiving as long as I can get it to run on my computer. As far as I can remember, the last fantasy based 1st person adventure I played was Slip Space. Now I have something else to anxiously await other than Rhem 5 and Amahrys.

Let's hope it's a Riven clone then, because Myst was a boring and terrible game , no that's a bit harsh but certainly the worst of the whole series
Oh yeah, right! That's the reason the original Myst sold in numbers never seen before when it came out and still is seen frequently in people's top 10 lists, often surpassing others in the Myst series except for perhaps Riven.
It's started already! LOL Chaps, chaps..... we can't possibly have anything fresh to say about Myst. This game looks very like Riven in the shapes used and there is a screenshot that looks like it's somewhere around the back of Gehn's office in Riven.
It's definitely been created as a tribute game - the graphics look so familiar to those of us who love Riven and the bedroom looks like it belongs in Channelwood.
This is most definitely a game i'll be getting, even if it's not quite as good as it sounds. I hope there's going to be no nasty surprises... i fear i've become a bit cynical of late..

That's a rather amazing demo. If it is really an example of how the entire game looks then I'll be looking forward to it perhaps more than any game in the last several years!
Looks great, I just hope my older graphics card can handle it. Nice for us Mystophiles to have a few Myst-likes in the works at the same time for once.
The video that Digitize has posted above is the Enviromental Demo that was made early on in developement and released in Feb 2012. Here is the recently released Official game Trailer for Five Cores...

Good grief, i would have thought that was straight from Myst, if you hadn't told me otherwise...

I'm afraid to get my hopes up too much. It looks almost too good to be true.
Yea, same here. And we still don't know anything about the game's puzzles. The Myst series did not only have amazing environments, but also some of the best puzzles in the genre.

If you mean Dead Mountaineer's Hotel, it has been released in English, exclusively through Steam... it had very mediocre reviews, mainly due to the very poor voice acting.
Yum, yum, yummy! Another Myst kind of game for me! And a nice replacement for that Myst 5 End of Ages that I had to get rid of - hopefully I'll get the 5 Cores for Christmas this year - is it a box format or d/l? Where's it being sold at (amazon/ebay/half.com, etc)?
Also I hope there will be an accompanying strategy guide/walkthrough for these games - these w/t's are my gaming bread and butter.
