Status : Offline | Have you tried Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning? It is recent and is supposed to be quite good. Divinity 2 is also a really fun game.
And while not quite "open world", the Drakensang series is great (River of Time in particular).

There were two dlc's for it that were actually decent and fairly priced, but not enough patches to fix things (a la the camera is a bit wonky in combat and difficulty gets quite easy as you get powerful).

Skyrim should definitely be atop your list of open-world fantasy RPGs, Cris.
You might also want to consider Risen and Risen 2.
Of course, if you haven't played them, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (plus all DLCs for both games) are a must in the sci-fi RPG category.
Cheers, Terry

Skyrim i have Terry and actually have made a mod for, which seems to be fairily popular so far..

The Fable games aren't REALLY open world. Pretty contained. Fun, though. The Dragon Age games aren't open world at all.
You didn't list Skyrim. Have you played it? Maybe the best open world RPG ever.
Fallout 3 is COMPLETELY open and completely stunning. I hear Fallout New Vegas is really good, too.
The Assassin's Creed games aren't RPGs, but they are pretty stunning open worlds. Particularly if you like Renaissance Italy. And who doesn't?

From what i remember, Chris has played Ass Creed games, and of course the TES games, and he doesn't like Fable. Yes, Risen one and 2, Arcania, and, I do suggest that you have a look at Ego Draconis , Chris, if you haven't already. It may not be completely sandbox in the sense of the TES games, but it does have a pretty gameworld which you can run around in and explore.
