Is nothing sacred?  A few months ago a US govt agency issued instructions on how to survive a Zombie attack.  Later it emerged that the govt didn't mean to scare people, it was a joke, surely everyone knows there are no such things as Zombies.

On a scale of things people worry about that includes nuclear war, terrorist attack, financial meltdown and cancer, I'm pretty sure most of us weren't worried about Mermaids.   Just as well, because according to one US govt dept, it has been necessary to reassure the public that yep, you guessed it, Mermaids are just about as real as Zombies.

Any day now, they'll be denying the existence of unicorns, pixies and the tooth fairy.  I suggest it may all be an elaborate scam to distract us from the intriguing fact that they are not prepared to make the same reassuring statements about UFOs, and alien visitors.
