I don't know what I expected (I haven't seen the show) but it's too predictable and Hollywood for me, at least for that price. If you like the show then I'd go for it, as it's very well done although there aren't many puzzles and it's an easy ride.

One of the best things about it is the choices, throughout the game what you say and do has an affect on how other characters perceive you and how things can unfold.
Also It's 24.99 for the whole season, that means all episodes 1-5 (only episode 1 and 2 are out at this time though as the season isn't over yet, they release a episode each month or so), it's not just one episode.

I may be wrong but my impression of the game is that it's basically a railed adventure game, taking you from location to location and putting you through different sets of tasks.

sounds great, although i don't know the show either, but i will also wait until all episodes are released.
I made that mistake with Tales of Monkey Island, by the time the final episode was released I lost interest and had forgotten what the first eps where about (goldfish memory )

There are puzzles in it as well as unlike many adventure games where the story is linear/set, you make choices both through your actions you do and the dialogue you say (IE you can lie to npc's, they can find out you lied, etc) can change things and how other npc's react.

The tv show is hands down one of the best tv shows. If you have ever liked anything to do with zombies you should definitely watch it. It's not really "about" the zombies rather it's about the people, the characters and how they survive/change throughout the show.
It's up there with Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones as far as the best recent tv shows.

I just did, and just... wow, that final episode was amazing.
No wonder this game has been awarded 'Game of the year'
Also isn't it amazing that an adventure game won this award, this might be a turning point for the adventure game industry we've all been waiting for

The show is fantastic. Season 3 is absolutely killing it I can't believe we have to wait till February to find out what happens next.
Currently playing: Dragon Age Origins, Dishonored, The Witcher, Fallout 3, Deponia

Lots of choices, moral things , etc that make the show and comics as great as it is.
I was surprised that it got a nomiation for the GOTY at the VGA's, I was totally expecting the usual Halo/CoD stuff , but then it actually won it, I couldn't believe it.
Then Tenacious D rocked the house and all was well again.

This game has some of the most believable characters I've ever seen in a game. And that is what this game is about, the characters and their struggle. I really hope Telltale continues to make games along the line of this, because this is beyond a shadow of a doubt the best game that they have done to date, and it is quickly climbing to the top of my "best adventure games of all time" list. Yes, it is competing with Riven.

My feelings exactly, Fnord. It's not just a "kill-the-zombies" game. The story really drew me in and I became ridiculously attached to its characters almost immediately. They're portrayed so vividly, they seemed almost like real people to me. I cared about what happened to them.
For me, this is a rare occurrence with games that have been released within the past few years.

The zombie theme is a major turnoff, and Telltale's recent work (Back to the Future, Jurassic Park) has left me ambivalent about their games. But I might be able to put up with zombies if the game is really about the characters and how they face the crisis rather than just "Kill zombies!"

Oh this game is definitely about the charachters, in fact it's one of few games where all characters are so fleshed out.
Zombies sometimes are a threat but most of the time it's all about people's interactions in bad situations, like in the tv series.
The game still suffers from the interactive movie disease, but your actions somewhat affect the story so it's not that bad.

Which the zombies are particularly happy about.

Depending on one's style of play her relationship with Lee is just something that defines us as humans spiritually and emotionally. I can hardly wait for the next season to arrive. Actually, I should say until the last episode is released since there is no way that I could withstand the wait in between without going nuts.

The zombies are an important part of the game, it is the ever present threat to the group, but even if you don't like zombies, or are sick & tired of them, The Walking dead is still worth a look. The Walking Dead won plenty of "game of the year" awards, and that it did based on its strong story, characters and interesting choices alone, not for having the most impressive graphics or spectacular action sequences.

Indeed. I'm surprised by how well they managed to write that character. It is rare to see a well written child character in a game (or movie, for that matter), but Clementine really feels like a fully fleshed out character, and not an annoying little side character who is only used to show how cruel the world is "because this can happen to a child".
One of the things that I'm really impressed by is that even if I don't like or at all agree with some characters, I've yet to see one who's motives I can't at least understand. Yes, some people did some really horrible things, but I can understand why.
