Thanks for asking about the game. Girls seem to like the game. There is shopping, when you visit the flea market. Basically you have to figure out what items each character will trade for.
One girl told me she liked to play it again and again to get higher points, and she finally got over 400 points. I don't know how. She said she had trouble pulling away from the game until she figured out what all the characters wanted to trade!
And it is educational too. The characters are ghosts from around the 1830s. Each character talks about his or her life. In some cases, the character is an animal, and tells a Cherokee legend.
8 years old is a little young for such a serious subject, but if you're playing with her, I don't think it will be a problem. One 8 year old boy seemed very upset about "the horse that goes into the sky."
At the end of the game, your horses and covered wagon spin up into the air as your characters return to the flea market. That was in the original demo. After that I changed it to show all the people in your party falling back down to the ground in the flea market where you started out.
Later, however, they wanted the full version on CD, because the little boy who seemed upset about it really wanted to play again. And he really liked the skeleton shopkeepers.
I'm afraid the new demo is pretty short. I was giving away too much of the game at first, and the cost for me to host the large file was prohibitive (I was losing money.)
That's why it is now hosted on Simtel, and why the demo is so short. It's more of a tutorial.
Thanks again for asking!

That is odd! Maybe it was a temporary condition? I just went and tried the Simtel servers, and started a download on several of them. They seemed to work fine.
You can also get it here:

If you do buy the game, and aren't happy with it for any reason, I do have a money-back guarantee. I would just like to be made aware of any problems.
Thanks again!
