I rather look forward to an adventure game with free movement. My only concern with it is that it makes it more tempting to the developers to add action elements, and that we could end up with some sort of platformer.
Colpet -- I believe you enjoyed Uru? How did you feel about the controls there? Xing shouldn't be much different than that.

I played Uru in 1st person (mouse driven) 99% of the time. I only switched to 3rd (and keyboard) for the dreaded jumps and action sequences, which I hated with a passion.
My experience has been that anytime 1st person is used along with keyboard controls, there's going to be some form of action along the way.

Dont like keyboard control though I would still try it.
Usually once you get used to it its okay but the problem for me is always forcing myself to get used to it and if the game dosent completely grab me I lose interest because I get frustrated with the keyboard control.
Still, looks really interesting, Thanks for the heads up Andromous.

I'm still craving the Riven world and this, hopefully, will be one that can fill that void. Thanks for revealing this to us and hopefully it will be the game that a lot of us are hungering for. If you hear or see anything further, please let us know. I do wish that developers would get back to these 'atmosphere' type games once more. That used to be the biggest draw to adventure games (I think).

(Of course, it likely helps that I'm familiar with the control scheme from other game types, and thus feel comfortable with them - indeed, games that provide keyboard controls but don't allow me to sidestep can feel rather awkward and limiting at first, I seem to recall.)
I'll confess that the narrative genre doesn't interest me as much as some others, but this may very well be worth keeping an eye on: that sort of first-person exploration can be difficult to come by, I fear.
(I'm also keeping an interested eye on Kairo, although I know rather less about that game's gameplay, I fear.)

Not always, I don't think: I don't seem to recall Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened or Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper having any action (beyond, perhaps a brief timed puzzle or so; I'll confess that my memory of both is vague), and both used the first-person perspective and had free-roaming keyboard-and-mouse controls.

I suppose that it's possible, but I'm inclined to doubt that they will: point-and-click would likely limit freedom in what looks to me to be a game based around exploration and simply wandering.
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*ahem*
Sorry.
