I found an old copy I had of In Memoriam. I'd always been intrigued by the concept of the game but had never got the opportunity to play it.

When I try to start and am prompted to enter a login name and an email address I then receive a message telling me the connection to the game server has been interrupted and to check my internet connection and try again later.

Is it because the game has gone dead and is not playable anymore?

Anyone?

Is that not the alternative reality game, that is reliant on websites made specifically for the game, and you getting emails sent to your real mail account? If so, I would not be surprised if they have taken down the servers, after all, the game was released in 2003.

Try that and see if it works then.

Also Fnord, you might also be thinking of Majestic, it was similar to this game in the sense of it interacting with you "outside" the game itself but not only did it send you emails, it also phoned you and things. I do believe it's servers and things shut down though.

Ah, that is possible. I was quite fascinated by Majestic when it was still active, but back in 2001, I was not old enough to be allowed into it. According to Wikipedia it only existed for about a year, and was commercially unsuccessful. Interesting concept though.
