The posting for Evidence got me thinking about this. I've tried to play that game at least 6- 7 times, install, delete, reinstall and over a period of 3 years and have never gotten very far - get bored, graphics are choppy, poor interface.
But the very, very worse for me has to be Ecstatica. I have literally installed, deleted and reinstalled this game over 30 times. The 3D polygon graphics and the fantasy/medieval plot suck me in every time. But the fighting sequences are SO poorly implemented that I never get far and always quite in frustration. I seem to remember once gettting about 3/4's of the way through the game before giving up, but lately I can't even get past the opening sequence.
There's a few more, but those two are probably at the top of my will never finish list. Say it ain't so -
Well, alright it wasn't the prettiest or best implemented game - but, I did have fun with it. I'm not sure was any worse than Alone in the Dark 1 graphics wise... (a little bit worse but not much)...
My all time number zero is: The Daedalus Encounter, followed very closely by AITD4.

Randy, I had one of those games in such list for a long time, not because it was bad but insanely difficult Maupiti Island. I did finish it in the end but it took me several years (no kidding!).

Status : Online | Grim Fandango...have tried 3 times IIRC to start and finish it but I always get bored at some point and stop it. Quest for Glory 5...two times....don't know why really. It is not that bad actually but it just hapenned that two times I never felt like playing it any further. Strange cause I loved all the rest of the series. Maybe the pseudo 3D graphics put me a bit off.
And to the king of all games that I am sure I will never try again to play...Black Dahlia. I love FMV graphics but I could never stand the puzzles of this one.
I don't know what gave me strength enough to actually finish Mystery of the druids...one of the worst ever imo.

Grim Fandango - nah! couldn't move around in it for some reason.

Whenever I start this game, it looks great and I really want to play it. And it being one of the most difficult games out there, you really want to play it to the end. But every time I get bored with it after a few hours and stop playing it, uninstall it and put it away again where it will gather dust untill I'll give it another try. Last month I installed it on my computer for the fifth time, but yesterday I uninstalled it again. Myst will remain my 'never finished - but keep trying' game for a long time to come.

I loved the FF series but that game is just horrid. The endless repetitive dialog kills my motivation to play every time but I come back to it....cause its FF. In a year or two I should be near the end.
Hard to forget the story since they literally repeat everything constantly.

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

A year or so later I will install it again, play it, die...and the cycle goes on. Actually, I don't think it's because the game is difficult, I think that I don't continue the game out of pride/annoyance ("...I got killed, so screw that game!...". Although one day, I declare, I will start it and finish it for good....yes I will!

The atmosphere was great, only spoilt by some of the worst acting since Plan 9 From Outer Space. Could those actors be any more wooden?
I also need to finish GK3... one day I may have the time...

| Deleted User | I've uninstalled Zanzarah for the 3rd time(got irritated) and still having the saved file. I don't know how to end that game because I just want my faries to be perfect. ANd having too many faries and too many choices to choose from, I find it hard to finish the game. But once in a while, reinstalled it again.

Aya, listen to your own feelings - if you dont like GK3 dont play it! If you've installed it and un-installed it so many times then it proves that you dont like it! ??? Personally, I dont understand as I still consider it one of the best AGs I have ever played, but I really think you have played it enough times to have formed a reasonably independent opinion of it! Everybody's taste is diferent!

I understand, but in the same way - people whose opinions I value have found GK3 boring - the person who owned the game shop where I purchased GK3 actually tried to dissuade me from buying GK3 (and he plays AGs!) Fortunately I had read the box and the storyline made me want to play it no matter what!
Basically, to sum it up - buy a game because you want to, and have done research into the storyline etc... there's always a chance you wont like it, but hey, that's what life is about

God! The same thing to me! Maybe it's something with the first level... One day, I'll start it for real I hope.

Status : Offline | Relentless (aka Twinsen's Adventure aka Little Big Adventure) - the action combined with the horrible save game system (where you overwrite your saved game as you play) was too much for me. I found a trainer for it, but it didn't seem to work like newer trainers. If I can figure out how to get that trainer working, I'll go back to it. I liked Twinsen's Odyssey (aka Little Big Adventure 2), which had a decent save system.
The Last Express - I got frustrated by trying to figure out the save system. You couldn't make saves. You had to turn back the clock. I'm not good with games that are on a timer or have timed events. The little bit of the game that I did play seemed very good otherwise.
I never uninstalled either of these games. They don't take up much space so why bother? I'll get back to them someday. I think.
Simon 3D - I'm going to try to force myself to finish this one by playing it along with my brother.

Status : Offline | Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine - It has way too much action for me and it's taking a long time to complete. For one, it has quite a few levels and two, I keep dying! I've decided to take my time with it b/c to replay it will take me just as long and that might not happen for awhile.
Myst 3 - The minimum system req. are a little too much for my system. With 166 mhz and 96 megs of RAM I tried to get it to work. The environments look fine but animation, video, and voices are just too slow and choppy that I've given up on it until we get a brand-new computer. But until then, I'm happy with what I've got.
I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.
