Funcom announced today that May 18, 2012 will start the second beta weekend for their upcoming massively-multiplayer online role-playing game The Secret World at 9AM PDT/ 6PM CET. The weekend will run until May 20, 2012, stopping at 11:59PM PDT / May 21 8:59AM CET. It is during this second weekend that players will be able to pick up where they left off from the first beta weekend and meet all-new characters in Kingsmouth, each with their own unique missions and storylines.
Gaining access to the weekend beta is as easy as pre-ordering The Secret World, which also grants access to all future beta weekends. Funcom also announced that they will be teaming up with major European websites this week for a massive giveaway of keys for access to this weekend's beta only, allowing players to get a taste of the action. The sites below will be the ones hosting the giveaways:
North American players looking to nab a key can visit the website Curse to get a copy of the key for the weekend. All players can visit The Secret World's official website to get a listing of all sites that have partnered up with Funcom for the key giveaway.
Funcom had previously had a successful beta weekend May 11-13, getting positive results from players in feedback and in technical stability. Funcom was also pleased in seeing that it had exhibited a higher number of players and activity than previous beta weekends for their previous MMO Age of Conan.
“The results from the first Beta Weekend are very encouraging,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “The majority of the feedback we have received from players is very positive, and also looking at it from a development perspective the Beta Weekend was undoubtedly a major success for the company.”
