Inspired by this, I decided to take a few photos today, just to show how beautiful Stockholm and its surrounding area can be in springtime.

I've used my cellphone camera, so don't expect any miracles.

The last one might not seem like anything special, but it is actually one of the largest bronzed age burial mounds that can be found in the region around Stockholm (though I don't think it is the largest one), dating from somewhere around 19th century BC and 5th century BC (and it was probably used over a large timespan, probably over 1000 years)

What a great idea.  Perhaps we should all do this.  I am terribly impressed with the old burial mound.

The people of old actually cheated a bit when they built it. It is not obvious from my picture, but they actually built it on top of a rocky hill, in order to make it look larger than it actually is. When they built it, it was clearly visible from Mälaren (Sweden's 3rd largest lake), and it was probably meant to show how powerful and wealthy they were. Not far from it you also have some major viking burial mounds, and at least one viking king's grave. And also several fake viking burial mounds (because people during the 19th century liked to brag about how historically important their region was, so they simply built some extra "viking graves" to show off)

Today is another dreadful rainy cold day in Belgium, we seem to be skipping Spring this year.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I'm in Tallinn, Estonia. Even that far north the weather is much better.

The first two pictures are from central Stockholm, I had lectures today so I had to be there anyway.

The last 3 are from within a 10min walking distance from my home.

Tallinn is a beautiful city, and an excellent one for those who enjoy walking and just taking in the view. It is easy to get from one place to another by foot, and it is small enough for you to not have to take the buss to get anywhere. The only problem with it is that I think that even I would start to gain some weight if I were to stay there for more than a few days (food is very cheap in Tallinn, as are pastries).

Absolutely gorgeous pics! It's beautiful springtime in the southern US as well. My veggies are really enjoying it.

We can be heroes, just for one day.
