Stupid things you've done in games, let's talk about them here! I'll avoid the faux pas of resurrecting the old thread on this for once, but it's still worth a look for anyone who missed it as there are some fun anecdotes there:

http://justadventure.com/forums/posts.asp?t=17847&pg=1

Anyway, a relatively recent blunder of mine:

I was playing The Old Republic and my goal was to get to a computer in an enemy stronghold. Well, I reach the spot and I see an elite Flesh Raider there. Assuming he was between me and my objective, I charge in at him...and lose. So I take some time to level up else where, apply some buffs, and try again...and lose again, but just barely. I shuffle around my buffs and try for a third time, finally winning. Feeling great about finally triumphing, I look around expectantly for the computer system I supposed was behind my defeated foe...and see nothing. Nothing behind him at all. Puzzled, I turned around to leave only then seeing  the computer system just a bit in front of my enemy's spawn point and off to the left. I missed it completely in my eagerness to attack, I probably could have accessed it (albeit by being very careful) without alerting the Flesh Raider at all.

In my recent playthrough of Might & Magic 7, I decided to go with the good path. In one of the early quests that you are supposed to do, you are asked to go down into the city where the evil guys live, and do a few tasks. This place is of course hostile towards you, as you are part of an enemy faction, so everything that is not a peasant will try to kill you. And the enemies down here are not easy, in fact you have some of the most powerful enemies in the entire game down here, and plenty of them, which means that one false move and you will suffer a party wipe. I ended up fighting my way through "The Pit", killing every enemy that stood in my way, and posted about my accomplishment on RPGwatch.

Another person then points out that I should have used invisibility to get past all the enemies (and it was probably the intended way of doing it, as my party was severely under leveled to take on such a challenge at that point)

cheating my girlfriend in Mass Effect

Warning: Mass Effect Spoilers ahead!

I ME1 i dated Liara, but since she wasn't a crew member in ME2 I started dating with Miranda.

Unfortunately for me Liara became a crew member again in ME3 and she constantly bitched about it and giving me the evil eye.

Things got even worse when i told her I didn't want her back. luckily Miranda wasn't on board otherwise we would have seen a big girl fight.

Even digital females can give you a hard time *sigh*

I just came to think of another silly mistake I did, not all that long ago. I was playing Dwarf Fortress, and my fort was doing pretty well. Early on I noticed that herds of capybaras were passing through the area where I had built my fort, so I decided to create a capybara farm. Actually capturing them turned out to be rather tricky and time consuming, and I must have spent several hours of real world time actually setting up the farm, but after a while I did managed to capture enough cappys to have a stable population, and they did of course start to breed. The problem is that I'm quite fond of capybaras in real life (just look at them), so I could not slaughter any.

My fort quickly died the lag death, due to what can best be described as a capsplosion.

Far Cry 3 is another one of those games where you can make a lot of dumb mistakes.

I went out exploring some islands, looking for treasure. I didn't have any ammo with me, but i wasn't in enemy territory so nothing could happen...

I found a small island with a flock of harmless blue birds, that looked like peacocks. There was some old bunker where i found some ancient relics, while inside i suddenly heard a lot of squeaking behind me.

Apparently those 'harmless' birds were very agressive and had decided to trap me inside and have me for dinner.

I barely escaped, dove into the ocean, to safety...

After a few meters the sharks finished me off

After reloading i stocked up on C4 to turn those evil birds into loot sacks

Played warcraft with my brother last night. Played a game of capture the flag. An opponent had nabbed our flag and was running for all he was worth (to no avail), and as he exited our base he leapt from the ramp with 2% hp. Normally not a big deal, but our base is about 40-50 yards off the ground. I pincushioned him with a killing shot and only being at 8% hp myself leapt after his body and our flag to return it to base.

I hit the ground and collapsed on top of the other guy. Falling damage killed me and I could only sit and watch as our flag waved at me while another teammate got the credit for its rescue.

A bit of a Road Runner and Wil E. Coyote moment. In Lord of the Rings Online I recently found myself on one side of a broken bridge confronting an orc on the other side. To my surprise he ran across the gap to get to me without any problem. After defeating him, I decided to try the same thing and dashed across the gap only to plummet straight down. Oops!
