I haven't played the remake yet, because I want to complete the original first, obviously I don't have an opinion on this subject.
(I agree with your last point in the post below Godfather)

I think 1 and 2 are just ok, and same goes for 5. I think 1 and 2 were just sort of weak on plot, and 5 had problems with plot pacing (i.e. the plot only developed at the very beginning and very end, and the middle was just you doing a bunch of random junk). KQ6 was very good, but I still wouldn't put it in my top 10, maybe not even top 20. me neither... KQ4 belongs there! and only the gfx of KQ3 seem "unbearable"... KQ4 has some ok gfx (the best gfx at that tiime)... and the parsers are the two different sierra text parsers, KQ3 features the one you typed at the bottom of the screen while KQ4 features the one that pops up a window when you start typing... and anyway adventures were NEVER supposed to be about gfx - gfx are there only as a visual supplement (at least for those who know what advs are all about! )
btw i sure wish tierra would come up with a remake of KQ3 soon... great job on KQ1 and 2

KQ7 is one of the best (despite other OPINIONS) but definitely not THE BEST. KQ3 is THE BEST. Then comes KQ5 and so on.... I hate KQ6!!! Just because Jane Jensen was involved, doesn't mean that it's the best. And I'm crazy about JJ.
BTW Can someone give me the lyrics of "Grow up young lady"? (from "KQ7: The princeless bride".
And - what can you tell me about the KQ books?

Inhabited by delightful and fantastic creatures, the Realm of Eldritch is in the darkest peril: an evil enchantress plots to destroy it and our two protagonists become caught up in the adventure of their lives..."
If the above sounds like a jolly exciting gaming experience, dive on in with Rosella and her mother, if however, the above makes you want to retch with the sheer sickly derivative childishness of it you'd be best advised to avoid.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! >
If you played it to the end, you would have known the great, surprising plot!!!! Like in KQ3. People have no patience.

I still thought it was total rubbish.
Plot, perhaps, wasn't my biggest problem, more tone - as you'd get from my previous post. I'm not into adventures aimed at children (and, not intending to be sexist here) primarlily young girls, which this seemed to be.

(I also collect Sierra, LucasFilm/LucasArts, Tolkien, Ultima and AD&-games; check my want/tradelist here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/~psychic/_fleamarket.html ).
Being mainly a collector, I haven't yet played all of them. I've finished 1, 2 and 5. Others I've given a try.
As said, plot really doesn't develop that much in KQ5, but it's an entertaining and beautiful game. Not quite on my Top 10 adventures, anyways I think. KQ1 is excellent as a classic, and being the first _animated_ adventure. KQ2 is also a classic and a bit more enjoyable than the first.
And the remake of KQ2 seems wonderful, although I haven't yet played it through. Though since I'm a collector/appreciator of original work, I'm a bit inconsistent and have mixed feelings about fan games/stuff in general, I admire the sheer dedication Tierra has shown with KQ2 Remake and respect for the series, which is quite overwhelming. The game is definitely worthy of the series, though not being official/licensed. It definitely would earn that merit.

Anastacia: a) What good story? b) I think the option you are describing is called a 'cheat'-option and is therefor not endorsed by Sierra to use in their games. On the Sierra-forums, I've read about people seriously f*cking up their game by using cheat codes.

Thanks. I'm from Finland. 8 of my current King's Quest games are from US or UK. 13 are from Finland.
Now that I counted, of all my current Sierra games, 21 are from US and UK, the rest is from Finland, about 44 (not counting duplicates). That is a bit suprising actually, but anything from 1980-1986 is most probably from US. The newer stuff come by here every now and then.
(Of my Lucas-adventures only 3 are from abroad, and most of Tolkien-games are from abroad, etc. Obviously the supply of different genres vary.)
There are some games that are localized in israeli (f.ex. Larry 6), so one would think there has been quite good market there?

On my Larry6-box I read: (c)1994 Sierra On-Line, Inc., so it's at least 9 years old. And on the box I read (amongst others) 'It's the "Best IBM PC game of 1993", so it's probably ten years old.
