@Fnord: I saw your defense of us on another websites threaded forum about our weekend sale. It was noticed and extreamly appreciated sir. I cannot tell you what that meant to us here behind the scenes. So seriously thanks

Unfortunately the darn thing just will not install at all!!! You can just hear the machine running and running, but when looking at the Running Processes it shows nothing running at all - never had anything like this before. Don't know if it was a bad download or nor. Just so frustated with it.
Any suggestions would be great, so thanks (hopefully) in advance.
Jo.

I'm REALLY sorry to hear that.
I thought that everything was running 100% smoothly now.
I know that tSupport have been VERY busy supplying the updated file, However the only thing I can suggest is to sensd them an URGENT S.O.S. asking for a different upload in case yours got corrupted somehow - I know of such cases (not for ANB though) !
Are you sure that you have **Properly* uninstalled any/all previous versions (if any) that you hav previously installed.
Simpluy deleting the (installed) game folder may not be good enough since there are quite likely items remaining in your Registrye and generally not observed !!!

Thanks Len, Well, it all should be uninstalled properly as it was never actually installed in the first place. All I did was download the installation file but I'll check the Reg., must admit I hadn't bothered to do that seeing the actual game wasn't installed at all. All I've got is the Installer itself and I'd deleted the first installer. I'll also contact Support as well.
Thanks, Jo.

I apologise if I impled that you hadn't done everything before expressing your distress. I know that these things can be TERRIBLY frustrating and upsetting.
Before replying to your (previous) post I I knew that you had made it plain that you hadn't INSTALLED ANYTHING previously and hence tyhere was NOTHING for you to uninstall and just having the downloaded file (or files) on your hard disk could not cause ANY probs.
However I thought I would mention it since if by any chance you had even maybe PARTIALLY started to install the old-bad version it might have caused trouble.
I hope I didn't offend you - sincere apologies if I did !!
I hope that one way or another you will be able to play the game ASAP.
I repeat what I have said on previous posts :-
It is IMHO a very good & original game albeit not MAGNIFICENT - it is very original in its concept and (with maybe a very few faults) very well im-emented.
Please excuse probable typoes etc !!!

Status : Offline | Wow, actually got it installed at last. Not really sure what happened as I've been trying to install it for the last few days. Anyway, this time I clicked on the button, went away for at least 15 mins and when I came back there was a message saying "The proceedure entry point _except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll". But almost immediately the loading screen came up and I was able to install it but I've only just started the game to see that it works and it certainly seems to be O.K.
So....fingers crossed now!!

Status : Offline | Hi Len,
Yes started it and enjoying it but only in Ch. 2 at the moment so quite away to go I suppose.
By the way, I found out what the problem was (I think). I'd had a similar message when starting Windows Live (which I only use now and then). The same message came up namely "entry point_except_handler4_common could not be found in the dynamic link library msvcfg.dll" Did a bit of Googling and found it's a common problrem. Apparently sometimes when Firefox is updated it puts a Vista dll. into XP (think its was dwmapi or something similar) which messes up some things in XP. Anyway I found the dll. file and deleted it, which is what someone said to do and then everything started working properly again. Funny though, I'm really wondering if it wasn't the Firefox update but whether that dll. was in the Install for A New Beginning. Academic now I guess!

I think that you are considerably more "with it" than I am these days - I'm an old fuddy duddy and more at home with the past than the present,
You know "you can't teach an old dog new tricks ----- but there's *ALWAYS* a diametrically opposite proverb (or saying or whatever) "I's never too late to learn" Haha (so they say) hehe!
I;ve had lots of troubles with dll's in the past and don't properly 'understand' them !
Some time if you've got time, could you please let me know your pros & cons about the game - I'd like to compare them with mine,
ATB ---- Len

Basically it has some commands and functions that save a programmer time. For instance if you want your game to call on the current time for some reason then there's a dll for that. Or if you want your game to make use of the windows media player to play and decode videos or music then theres a dll for that as well. All our games are scanned for what dll's they may or may not require and then if you don't have them they are put in for you. If you choose to uninstall the game the dll's stay in place since they are system wide and may be used for other games/programs. They are usually smaller files and so no real hinderance for space issues. Hope that helps give a basic understanding in laymens terms. At any rate I am very very glad you got it rolling. Len it's always a pleasure to see you helping out around the forums. Your assistance is invaluable sir.

Very many thanks for your kind words. Very much exaggeratged in this case since about the only thing I did was to give a bit of encouragement - maybe that DID help a tiny bit.
Also thanks for your concise but clear exposition of the basic functions of .dll's.
It may seem simple to some people to express complex concepts in simple everyday language. But it isn't all that simple, it takes a certain knack.
I have been trying to do it well for 70 years, firstly teach Physics to high school and above, and then with computers. - And as I said it is not as simple to express difficult ideas in simple terms.
Cheers ........ Len

Hi Jo.
I didn't want to boost it up too much in case you (and maybe others) were disappointed,
IMO it's got a lot going for it. It's not perfect and if I were a Reviewer I wouldn't give it an A+ grading but I definitely think it deserves an A (or at the very worst an A_-).
It is futuristic without being too 'far out' like some Sci-Fi's. In fact its basic "propaganda" is pretty realistic. One way or another, mankind is doing its best to destroy its only planet (as yet anyhow - please don't clobber me for politics - hehehe !
It has some very good puzzles. Theory are extremely well integrated into the narrative & gameplay and the commonplace sliders, codes, mazes, etc.
The voice acting of the main 2 characters is IMO first class, The interface is good and the general standard of graphics and general implementation is as good as pretty well any games these days.
IMHO, a bargain for US$9.99 – to say nothing of the additional game thrown in !!

I tried turning Norton off and downloading it, but I got a similar error message from some basic Windows protection. In any case, after four tries, I still have not found a way to download it.
