Hi Everyone - We heard from Daedalic this morning, they have been working hard on this & have a fix. The bad news is that any current saved games will not work with the new version. The good news is that the new version will be available shortly & there will be a saved game in this new version from the point at which this bug occurred. The saved game is included so that if you've already played up to the bug you will not have to start over.

That is great news, thanks!

Due to past experience, I'm not YET jumping for joy !

Ok folks at long last we have solid solution for you. I am going to list the steps in order and if you find that you need more help or if something isn’t clear please feel free to post here on the forum or please open a support ticket and I’ll be available to you to help you through this issue.

Please uninstall the game.

Do not save your saved game files as they will no longer work with the 1.31 Version

Re-download the new version of the game (V 1.31) Here: http://tinyurl.com/ANBV131

Install it as normal and play away.

So if you were on Chapter Three I happen to have a saved game that will work from that point forward with this version of the game. If you’d like that file please...

Download the file “savegame01.dat” here: bit.ly/savegame01ANB

Make sure that hidden files and folders are visible. To do that...

Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button ,

Click Control Panel,

Click Appearance and Personalization,

Click Folder Options.

Click the View tab, Under Advanced settings,

Click Show hidden files and folders

Click OK

* If this doesn’t fit your operating system or you need more help to make this happen just let me know via the forum, PM, Support ticket or email.

** Please don’t forget to turn this off when you are finished otherwise you will see many files and folders that should not be bothered and are of no value to you.

Once this is set then you can now navigate in a windows explorer window to C:\Users\”Your UserName”\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment\ A New Beginning\Savegames

Place the file “savegame01” you downloaded earlier into this folder, if it asks you to replace it then please do so.

Launch the game and enjoy!!!

Thanks so much you guys for all your help and patience with this. A special shout out to GENF, Len Green and CB for helping us during this past two weeks.

Please let us know if you need any help or if it works. I am confident you'll all be off into adventureland soon with this fix, but please let us know so we can all give a collective sigh of relief.

Hiya Genf,

You did a VERY great deal to lead to this succesful conclusion !

I haven't studied the instructions carefully since I have my original version (which I shall have to re-install of course) which *alone* can access my approx. 300 savegames.

But I believe there is a *NEW* savegame at the end of chapter 2 &/or beginning of chapter 3.

IIRC, the Prologue plus chapters 1 & 2 are pretty long.

Will you use that W-T to continue from the beginning of chapter 3 (at the bug-location) or start again from the very beginning.

Thanks for your comments.

Have another look at the instructions, the following step: -- Download the file “savegame01.dat” here: bit.ly/savegame01ANB

-- will get the savegame file we need (start of 3rd chapter). There is no need to replay chapters 1&2.

Yesterday when finally I was able to release Bent from the shower handle, I thought: Wow, that must have been a horrible week for him, tied up in that helicopter and no one able to make him free. Poor Bent!

Just for interest's sake !

I'm confused - maybe because I've never played this version ??!

Somewhere on your hard-disc or on the JA's Server?

WHERE **ARE** ALL your previous (and present) save?

Well hidden, where I can't find it, would be my first answer

I had to do a lot of digging to actually find it (it seem to be stored in a different folder in later versions of windows), but here is where I found mine:

F:\Documents and Settings\Fnord\Lokala inställningar\Application Data\Daedalic Entertainment\A New Beginning

As it is in a hidden folder, telling windows to search for it did not do me any good.

Hehehe !!

**ALL  SAVES** are in the **IDENTICAL** location - the exact same as the ORIGINAL pre-JA versions !!!

I had **EXACTLY** the same problems as you have when I originally played the game.

I searched the savegames and almost gave up.

I began to think that the only place that they could be must be in the Registry where I do not mess around unless there is an  extreme emergency.

Eventually I found them IN ** EXACTLY ** THE SAME LOCATION THAT YOU DESCRIBED ABOVE.

So from that point of view, nothing has changed since the very first release of the game.

As I thought, nobody's saves are stored in a Server (except maybe the one save intended to help players who wish to start from the previous bug only) !

I realise that this thread has been quiet for a few days now, but I would nevertheless like to add a small note of my own regarding the time taken to produce a patch.

Having, I feel, some experience of such things (including game development experience), it seems entirely plausible to me that a bug may take so long to fix: finding the bug may not be quick (even if you can simply compare the two versions, the actual bug may be indirectly caused), and similarly fixing it may not be easy (depending on the structure of the affected elements, there may be danger of disrupting other parts of the game, or a fix may not be easily evident, for example).  Finally, I hope that they would have done significant testing of the fix, checking that it did in fact solve the problem and didn't cause any new ones (which could potentially call for multiple full playthroughs).

Note, however, that this is entirely speculation - I don't know what caused the bug, or why it did take so long to fix - and I am not addressing the issue of lack of communication.

MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

*ahem*

Sorry.

Ah, I downloaded the game a few weeks ago but haven't actually installed it.

I suppose that means getting rid of the original download before re-downloading again?

Just wondered if there's a time limit to doing all this before downloading once again?.

I am not in a position to beable to give an answer totyour time quiestion - but I imagine that particularly due to the delay in uploading the revised corrected version there should be **NO** time limit.

After all, you paidn your good money in good faith on the asumption that you could play the gamwe shortly after receiving it.

The ness up & delay was not your fault but entirely that of the Developers !

What other obligations you may possibly have are NOT the concern of the Developers !!

I hope that somebody 'official' will confirm this for you !!!
