Just kidding...I tended the JAVE for close to five years, but no one has done so since I became the old site's webmaster back in 2008.
At one point, I remember mentioning to the new owner that it contained a lot of outdated info and many dead links, and that it might be a good idea not to include it in the new site right away.
But it did survive the trip and it made the cut -- in fact, I've seen it here (although not recently). Somewhere along the line it must have been either accidentally or deliberately dropped. I've noticed that the same thing seems to have happened to the Schedule of Upcoming Releases.
Let me check into it and see what I can discover. BTW, thanks for asking!

Status : Offline | Thanks, loobiloo. I've actually been here all along, but ever since the site was sold I've been bouncing aroung a lot behind the scenes. Many of the things I do aren't as readily apparent as they used to be.
The original credit for the JAVE goes to Val -- it was her idea and she was its editor until she became webmaster. Then I showed up and held the position until I became webmaster.
I loved working on it, and my hope is that if it's brought back to the site, someone will come forward and carry it on. As I've mentioned, it needs a lot of work.
I sent a JAVE inquiry "upstairs" yesterday, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
I find it gratifying that you consider it a nice resource!

It's so funny how the design states it's age and my skill level (lack of!) way back then. I, of course, had guidance from the JA owners at the time. Remembering all that just seems like it wasn't real - so much has changed since then in all our lives.

Ah, Val, you're correct. There goes that faulty memory of mine again.
You are, however, the one who stepped right into the job and made the JAVE what it was. I just took over what you had already established. You da JAVE Momma. The JAVE has tracked my skill at graphics, for sure. Some of my early backgrounds are embarrassing. And yes, there have been many life changes for us since that time. For instance, your boys grew up and I became more of an old bag.

http://www.justadventure.com/thejave/
as opposed to this one in JA's Links:
http://www.justadventure.com/site/thejave/
It seems crazy that you can access it through another site & not the host one, & it looks like a very easy thing to fix?

You are correct, CB. As I've said before, no one has regularly tended The JAVE since 2008, when I had to give it up after having maintained it for five years. Before the site changed hands, I was contacted by people interested in taking it over. But once they learned what was involved, I never heard from them again. So The JAVE remains full of dead links and outdated info. Frankly, this makes me cringe.
Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about that now, as the entire site has switched from straight HTML to CMS and I no longer have access to JAVE input. There is no way for me to correct links in the drop-downs for the same reason: lack of access. I also have no idea why the link keeps flipping back-and-forth between live and dead.
So until someone who does have that kind of access fixes the link (or it somehow flips back to "live"), it will remain dead. To be honest, I don't know if it's even possible to access JAVE content via the CMS at this point. I haven't been told how anything is set up.
The Upcoming Release pages are also problematic. They are inaccessible (dead link in drop-down), with no updates since the site was sold due to lack of access to CMS input. I haven't been told if there are any plans to revive it
I'm really sorry, everyone. I wish the situation were otherwise.
